Trad music for the whole day??
Hi,
We're in the process of booking our wedding entertainment at the moment and I'm wondering if anyone else had a trad band for the whole day? We're having a civil ceremony and want to have two or 3 trad musicians play at the drinks receptions before and after, and maybe one or two musicians play during the ceremony. Its the evening entertainment we're not sure about. We don't want to go overboard on the trad music, but I think it will work out easier and cheaper for us if we use the same musicians for the evening entertainment too but I'm a bit concerned that our guests will be a bit sick of listening to fiddles and bodhráns by the evening! The two trad groups we have been speaking with are Dublin City Folk (not sure I'm convinced they'll do what we want though) and Craddóg (have a good feeling about these guys!). Both can arrange a DJ for us too. When they preform in the evening for the dancing, they do perform more modern music, and we can do a bit of ceili dancing too which could be fun. I know the best thing to do is to go and see them perform, but if anyone has any feedback on having this style of music all day please let me know L [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Trad music for the whole day??
I'm afraid I haven't actually been to a wedding with all trad music but, now this is only my opinion, while it's great, I think people might get sick of it after a while...
Re: Trad music for the whole day??
I agree with the others, I wouldnt like trad music for the whole day. I know youre trying to save a few bob, but the evening reception can make or break your day.
Re: Trad music for the whole day??
I think it very much depends on your crowd and how well you know their tastes.
Personally, while I'd enjoy listening to trad music for a while(as in half an hour to an hour) that's be my limit and I wouldn't fancy listening to it for the night. I'd probably be waiting for the "main" band to start if you know what I mean.
