Pre-Application preparation
Read your products instructions
All products have their own specific methods for application. To ensure best results always read the instructions carefully
Skin preparation
Take a shower, and using exfoliated gloves or a cotton washcloth remove the dead skin cells by rubbing over your skin in a circular motion. You can also use an exfoliating lotion. Pay particular attention to the lower half of your legs, knees, ankles, tops of feet, and elbows.
After your shower you should move to a cool room, to ensure you skin does not sweat during the process. Apply moisturizer, and again pay special attention to knees, elbows etc, and also places where you may have fine lines i.e. the neck. Take some time for the lotion to absorb into your skin before application.
Application
Begin with your legs first, doing one at a time. Work the lotion into your skin thoroughly but quickly. Circular motions are best for application and cut the risk of streaking down. When you have both legs done, wash your hands completely with a nailbrush, pay special attention to your knuckles, inside your fingers and your palms.
You can now move onto your torso, and wash your hands again, then arms and lastly your face and neck.
Development
It is very important that you do not sweat during the first 3-4 hours after application. This could lead to parts of the tan being patchy. Loose clothing is your best option for during this period as tight clothing might rub some of the developing lotion off. So sit back, relax and all you have to do is wait.
Maintaining your Tan
The length of time your tan stays on will be reflected from your skin type, if you have flaky skin, your tan will of course wear off quicker. The next time you bathe/shower, you should use an exfoliating lotion on the skin. This will rid the skin of the dead cells again, and you can repeat the above again.
