Hey

Am wondering if anyone out there could give me the name of a good decent photographer who does not cost an arm and a leg, and also if anyone had any different ideas as to what we could have for our pre dinner entertainment so we can keep our guest entertained while we're off getting out photo's taken :)

Hi aleefk
I just saw this post. I am not sure where you are based or what date you have chosen.
I am a full time professional photographer based in Meath and operate nationwide. I offer full day wedding coverage from the bridal preparations a couple of hours before the wedding until the first 15 minutes or so of the dancing on a disc only package for 1000 euro or if you wish the coverage to end as you sit down to the meal the price is reduced to 850 euro.
Included in the disc package is an engagement photoshoot and two discs, the 1st disc contains approx 500 photographs from the day, fully edited with no watermarks in high resolution ready to print and also in low resolution for sharing on the internet. The 2nd disc contains a DVD slideshow of 250+ photographs from your wedding set to your choice of backing music so that you can enjoy viewing the photographs on your TV. Both discs come presented in leather cases. Also included is a Framed Signature Board Photograph which is a photograph taken during the day (chosen by the bride and groom) which I edit, print at A4 size, mount on a signing board and place in a 20"x16" frame all at the reception venue. This is normally ready to present to the bride and groom just before the main course of you meal is being served and your guests can sign around the border during the evening.
I also offer wedding album packages with lots of extras included from 1400 euro.
You can see a small selection of some of my recent work on Youtube in a short 3 minute clip by clicking on this link

If you like what you see there and would like to see more then you can visit my website www.dmcphotography.ie where there is more of my work in the wedding and venue galleries as well as details of what is included in different packages on the pricing page.
Then if you would like to arrange a no obligation meeting feel free to get in touch as I may still have your date available.

As regards the drinks reception entertainment I can suggest a couple of good reception singers, various styles of musicians and a couple of magicians. Even if you are not interested in me as a photographer get in touch if you want contact details for them and I will be happy to oblige.
Thanks
David

Hi allefk, I would invite you to check out my website linked below. As regards to entertainment, I have seen a few different musicians for pre dinner, one was a Michael Buble tribute singer in the background, not too quiet but not too loud, I have also seen 3 piece trad music, 2 pieve acoustic and my favourite is the 3 piece types such as manilla strings, there are a few different suppliers offering this, basically 3 people with instruments visiting tables and singing any song that is requested.

For my own wedding I have an uncle who likes magic tricks, brilliant at them in fact and he went around to each table performing various tricks, he has a fab charachter about him, grabs attention and gets all laughing so he really was a talking point afterwards. Although he does not do this as a job so I can't recommend him to you but something similar would be fab if you could get recommendations. I think the key element to my uncle is his attitude and his 'likeability', no matter the occasion, even a wake people will ask him to perform and he always makes them smile!

Best of luck with it!
