Hats or something for flower girls?

Hi Ladies,

I have four flower girls (all family) and one of them is currently going through chemo and has lost all her hair. She wont have any at the time of the wedding. I'm hoping that she will be well enough to still come on the day but I don't want her to feel left out.

Has anyone seen or have any ideas of something that I could get for her and the other three to wear on their heads that would mean that she wouldn't feel too different from them? Obviously a hair band etc would just draw attention from it but want to do everything that I can do make it all easier on her.

Here is the link to their dresses. They are a kind of champagne lace.

Oh the poor pet, hope all goes well for her.

I googled but all the hats are gross, can't really find anything apart from mini veils?

I don't know if this would work, but maybe you could get them headbands with little streamers at the back and add a few extra to hers, just so that she'd feel like she matched everyone else? Kinda like this, in whatever colour you want to match:

Or something like this? May be a bit too communion-y, but I think if she was conscious about her hair loss she might like it.

I don't know what age she is, but some kids are surprisingly proud when they've gone through something like this, they want to show it off as a badge of honour - have a little chat with her and see how she feels about it.

Just had another idea, could you get silk sashes or ribbons that match your colour scheme and tie them around the girls heads like hairbands, with the ends loose? You could have a wider one for her, it would cover her head if she was conscious and still match the other girls.

Thats a nice idea candlequeen. They could all have a ribbon but she would have a matching scarf.

i second this idea, it would defo make her feel included, without singling her out. Is she wearing anything on her hear at the moment?

ah, the little darling, hope she'll be ok...

the other wollies ideas sound good. i came across this child's headband on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/76394946/gi ... ral-slider
or these

you could make something like those except using organza material, to match the skirt of the dress. you could then attach champagne ribbon over the length of it, maybe attach a few narrow ribbons also, at the tails, then pin a little flower on the side or back. i'd say it'd be very easy to make! or maybe your dressmaker who's doing your alterations could run one up? x

Thanks for all the replies girls. At the moment she isnt wearing anything - despite the fact that half the parish has knitted her some, we've all been buying them and relatives all over the world have been sending them! She must nearly have one for everyday of the month... but doesnt seem to want one but she's only 6.

Having said that she only lost her hair at Easter so she's still getting used to it. I love the idea of the silk sashes for all of them to kind of match each other. I could sew some lace and pearls or something on them to try and jazz them up a bit and make them pretty.

That sounds just gorgeous Bride2be040812, the poor little thing, she sounds like she's being very strong about it.

What about having little bonnets? Something a bit like this:

or even something a bit summery like these (I'm guessing you're getting married in August by your username)

I hope this helps. :thnk

My best wishes to the little lady :)

I think the bonnets are a beautiful Idea, Im August too and I had thought about getting them as they are very girlly and practical if we get the beautiful weather that I am hoping for! :) Good to keep the sun away. I dont know if this is something that happens to everyone one chemo but I know of a friend who said that the chemo can affect a persons sensitivity to light? Perhaps the bonnet might help that too. :wv
