Money for gifts?

Hi!

We're getting married this summer and debating how to deal with gifts issue. We live in a tiny appartment in London with no room for anything, not to mention no means of transporting gifts with Ryanair from Ireland to London! We still have engagement pressies stuck in Ireland as they are too heavy to transport. We are planning on including a link to our wedding website at the bottom of invites. On the website we're planning to have a gifts section - we want to say presence is the most valuable present and as almost everyone is travelling it is a huge gift in itself. We were then going to say if people really do want to give something then any monetary contribution big or small would be appreciated. We don't expect much but keen not to have a pile of presents I've seen this done before but now havin jitters about it! Dont want to offend...Is this acceptable?

Thoughts and advice? O:|

There is no nice way to ask for money so best not to ask at all! Most people will give money or vouchers anyway, especially as you live in the UK so it most likely won't be an issue!

i wouldn't put anything on the invites, maybe try spread it through word of mouth through your parents. Personally this doesn't offend me if i get a request for money with an invite, id rather give money than a present, but some people can take offence to these things so best to avoid it
