Well protocol would be that the dress is paid for in full when you take it out of the shop. Most places hold onto the dress until the week of the wedding.

I brought mine home because of logistics but I'm sure you could leave it there until you were ready to bring it home. Especially if you wanted to wait to pay in full.

My dress is just in this week as well, shop are holding it and will do fittings nearer the time told me between 2 months and 1 beforehand and they're holding it until then. I've only paid the deposit - presume they're not looking for anything else until I'm bringing it home

My dress is in already and wasnt expecting it till June, but havent had the chance to go fit it yet. Think I have to pay the balance when I go in to try it on assuming its all fine, but shop will hold it for me till whenever i want.

I got a phonecall last month to say my dress was in too and panicked!! I want to lose more/some(!) weight too... Person I dealt with in bridal shop kept saying I had to bring it home once it was in too... Told me next time I rang that I could postpone two weeks max... (My dress has been paid off since Feb)... So fobbed them off a few weeks and rang Tue to make an app for a fitting and was talking to a different person and the first thing she asked was when my wedding was.. I said 6th July and she said well obviously we won't be doing a fitting til June so my fitting is for 5th JUne and I'll be taking it home then when it's done :) I'd say they are happier to get rid of it once it is in just incase there's a flood, robbery, etc... But I had decided before I rang the last time that I was gonna try and argue that it makes no sense to take it til the month (my alterations are going to cost extra in this shop)... I reckon it makes their life easier if you take it (which I totally understand), but it's not that you really have to I think...

Hope that rant helps!!

With my dress shop -
my dress is due in in July, must go in within a week to try it on and make sure all is ok as they only have 7 days to return if anything is wrong with it and then they will hang onto my dress as all the fittings will be done there and i can collect dress then whenever i want then after. :wv
