Bride's DiarySo little time, so many things! Well it's coming up to the 18-month mark and I can't believe that it's flying in so quickly. For a long time I've been feeling like it's a good chunk of time away and not to stress too much about our wedding day but this month the panic has set in a bit. At this stage, according to the many books on the subject, we should theoretically have our photographer, florist, DJ/band and venue booked. Well put a tick mark beside the venue and that's about it. In fact, sure don't put a tick mark beside the venue because the date is flexible and we haven't actually set it in stone yet. I've been attacked by a serious case of wedding guilt, coupled with extreme panic that I won't be able to engage the services of the vendors that I want. However, considering that the photographer I would love to have at my wedding costs about 5 times my photography budget; I don't think that I should really be panicking about his availability as unless I win the Lotto in the near future I won't be adding him to my vendor list. Flowers are a difficult choice which I'm split in half about to be honest. I suffer, along with a good few members of my family, from very bad hay-fever. This means that any occasion that involves flowers results in streaming eyes, runny noses and general all around sniffling. So really a flower bouquet isn't an option for myself definitely and might not be the best choice for the rest of my family either. I've heard of a fabric flower company that I might be able to order from online so that's something I will need to research further. As we plan on getting married in the late winter, I would love a bouquet of something very unusual such as twigs, feathers and berries. Sounds a bit mad I know, but I reckon it would keep very well and look great in a frame a few years down the line. My obsession at the moment wedding-wise is the dress. I'm fascinated with dresses and buying up nearly every wedding magazine and gawking at all the beautiful dresses. My dilemma is that I'm not so much of a fancy dress person and I'm not sure that a big dress would suit me. Ideally, I'd love to wear something very informal and not full-length. Of course in saying that, I haven't even been into any shops yet to take a look at what's on offer so there's every possibility that I could end up in the biggest most frilly dress you've ever seen! Next on the list is the bridesmaids dresses. This is going to be fun, my sister is planning on getting married next year and has chosen a colour scheme very close to my own. Indeed, she's asked me to help her chose her bridesmaids dresses - to this is getting interesting. While helping her shop for her bridesmaids (this includes me) I'll be doing my best not to chose for her what I would like for myself. We plan on going shopping in the sales in the next couple of weeks so I'll let you know how I get on; whether I need to wear a wig after pulling all my hair out; and the stress factor on a scale of 1 to meltdown. Until next time. |
