Bride's Diary

Leave the Kids at Home

Well the last time I made a diary installment I was going bridesmaid dress shopping with my sister for her wedding. Due to me having Rebecca, and her having 4 bridesmaids, it actually ended up that she went to look twice, the first time with 2 bridesmaids and the second time I went with her.

A word of warning girls, if you ever have to go shopping in a bridal shop during the sale, do try and leave the kids at home! Unfortunately I didn't have that luxury as John was working and so myself, my sister, mother and Rebecca ended up in a large bridal shop in the northside on the first day of the sale. If I ever have a choice again, I won't be (a) bringing the little madam and (b) going to a bridal shop on the first day of a sale if I can help it. It was sheer chaos with people just yanking stuff off hangers and up to 4 people working a relay in and out of the changing rooms.

To my great relief, she had already chosen the dress she liked and all I had to do was try 1 on. Bliss, so I quickly changed and once we were all happy ran down to the car where my baby sister was minding the drama queen who had decided to have a temper tantrum because she couldn't try on flower girl dresses.

My sister still has to fix her date in stone, but has already bought her dress as she fell in love with it straight away she tried it on. So it just goes to show girls that you do know when you try on "the" dress.

On our wedding plans front, well I'm sorry to have to confess that nothing much has happened. We're both indulging in the ostrich syndrome and burying our heads in the sand as regards making supplier bookings. I suppose because our wedding has been so far away for so long (we've been engaged 2 & half years) that we just can't get our heads around the fact that it is less than a year and a half away now!

On the plus side, we did manage to get away for a weeks holiday this summer and it was the most amazing week we've ever spent together. There is an awful lot to be said for leaving kids at home and not going away with family and friends and I think that if you can manage even a weekend together for time for each other over the lead up to the wedding it would be well worth it!

Until next time
