Bride's Diary

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Oh my God, I think I'm turning into a bridezilla! How I've managed to get any work done in these past few months is a mystery! I seemed to have spent all day every day surfing the web, not to mention driving my friends and family crazy with endless wedding talk!

The wedding always seemed miles away, but once Christmas was over the countdown had began. No need for stress or worry, I still had 5 months to get everything done. We booked another trip to Dublin to look for a band. We went along to so many strangers' weddings we had become professional gatecrashers! At one wedding we found our spot just inside the door and after listening to a few songs turned to leave, when we noticed six other gatecrashers on their own spying missions! We went to see the Amigos in Paddy Cullen's and decided they were just what we were looking for.

That weekend myself and my bridesmaid went on a tour of Dublin to see some sites - Pronuptia, Lantz, Hickeys, Debenhams etc all in search of that illusive bridesmaid dress. Eventually we chose a lovely rose pink full length dress from Lantz - Now we had a colour scheme!

With all of the wedding planning going on my husband to be was starting to feel a little left out, so time to get the men's suits organised. He had a clear picture of what he wanted and unfortunately the colour pink was not high on the list! Now, I wasn't asking him to wear a pink suit or anything, just a little something to carry the colour scheme through. After a little persuasion we compromised - I told him he had to wear pink! We tried a few shops in London and eventually discovered if we hired our suits from Youngs, my Brother and Dad could pick theirs up in Ireland, and Dave's family could pick theirs up in the UK. Another tick on the check list.

I arranged frequent visits to Dave's Mum's to make sure I was on track with my weight loss - 2 months to go and still the zip on the dress would not close. I had now been attending slimming classes for what seemed like an eternity and in 5 months I'd managed to lose 5 lbs! I wouldn't call myself large, just a bit bulky in the wrong places! I had a chat with my slimming instructor and we both agreed maybe it was best I save my money. I other words I got fired form my slimming class! Oh well, this is where the will power kicks in.

With 2 months to go we sent out our invitations, the time really was flying by. I ordered my veil and tiara on the internet and was so confident I even ordered my shoes without trying them on! Everything arrived as described; it really was getting exciting, if only I could fit into my dress. I arranged another fitting and was delighted to see the dress now closed (even though it was a bit of a squeeze). 1 month to go and it has to be salads for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
