Bride's Diary

Life, love and moving. . .

Well hello again, as I told you in my last instalment myself and Phil had reached a fairly critical stage in our lives . . . no we still werent engaged, we had decided to buy a house, now being a good Southside girl myself it wasnt too often that I had need to cross the M50 carpark to venture over to the Northside, that was until himself came along and I found myself making the weekly arduous journey over to Balbriggan. After 6 months of this I decided that enough was enough and we started looking into buying a house together . . . ah but there was a problem WHERE?????

Until you try to move a Northside boy you dont realise how difficult a task that is as he seemed to have convulsions at the very idea of moving to the other side of the pale!!! The result, I had my first married life lesson learn to compromise or my case give in, so off a hunting on the Northside we did go! After wandering around a few estates, we decided wed had enough and went for a drive and found ourselves in the beautiful village of Donabate and it was here that I fell in love . . . with a four bed Semi! I walked round it once and decided that was it (the story of my life!!) and we put down the deposit straight away.

Now when we started we forgot one vital thing . . . mortgage approval and being the ever optimist I said ah sure it will be fine (famous last words), three stress filled weeks later, with tears, rows and last minute phone calls we secured our new home and I had never been happier. Now the next thing was to break it to my mom, being an only girl this was going to be fun! Actually mom & dad took it very well as long as I promised we would eventually move back to the Southside . . .after a year! (still to be discussed that one!) Next task was to do my accountancy finals and as luck would have it at the same time we got a move in date on our house . . . the week of the finals arrggg. Off to Dundalk I went half in a state of hysteria over my pending few days and half ecstatic about the house. Somehow I managed to concentrate (have just found out I passed them too!) and got through the three days. On the day my finals finished following a nice little car crash (would prefer not to go into that one!!) we headed off to pick up the keys and our life of bliss began . . .

Now after the finals I was a wrecked girl especially after getting Bronchitis from the dust in the house, so my gorgeous man decided that for our year anniversary we should go away for the weekend . . . I was so excited and couldnt wait until he told me where we were going to visit his brother in Carlow hmmm not the romantic getaway I was expecting but not being one for sulks I just said ok then . . . little did I know what he was really up to . . .will tell you in my next entry . . .nothing like a bit of suspense

Til then Luce xxx
