Hi all,

For those of you who have been to the States, who did you find gave the best value/service on internal intercity flights?

We're trying to book all of our honeymoon oursleves so any feedback would be great.
Thanks.

I used Delta for all of ours - can comment on the service yet as we haven't been, but the prices were excellent

Hi Meow,

Really depends on where you are trying to get to. Airlines in the US have "hubs" which they operate in and out of. Continental Airlines who fly from Dublin and Shannon have Newark as their hub. Delta uses JFK and Atlanta and American has Chicago. Now, after this. It really depends on where your going from and to. As some airlines have more flights etc into their different cities.
A good travel agent will also be able to mix and match flights for you rather than having to just stick to one airline. And while they are doing that should be saving you money. As one airline can be full or busy and another one half empty.

Sincerely,

Marble City

Its easier on you if you stick to the same airline or at least within the same grouping - like Star Alliance, One World etc. If the airlines are totally separate you may have problems forwarding on bags between flights, or if flights are cancelled you may have no recourse with different airlines if you miss a flight...does that make sense?

Bingo,

Good point on that one. From the point of view of getting from A-B yes stick with the one airlines especially where transferring - bags and people. However, I would feel that where a person is adding an extra flight - ie stopping in New York for a few days the airline they fly on with is not as relevant. They've already picked up their bags etc. So it's really only down to an airline pulling off the route of something.

I'll stop here prattling on about flights. If we really got into the technicalities of this we could be here forever.

Best of luck wherever you choose to go and however you choose to get there. Any queries and if I can help. Please feel free to PM.

Sincerely,
Marble

Thanks very much for your advice ladies.

We're planning to fly between LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco and maybe even NY.

I'll have a look at those companies. I'm going to book it all online myself and not use a travel agent.

Thanks again. X

Hiya,

We're also doing a multi-centre honeymoon. We booked our flights for our honeymoon through Travelocity.com. Don't know if we could've got our flights cheaper elsewhere or not, but they give lots of options for most routes within the iteniary.

You can tick a box if you prefer non-stop flight over cheaper etc and they will show the direct flights first, if available. or you can choose to go with one airline if you want to go that route. We're going with different operators all the time, but all our flights are direct so we don't have to worry abut connecting flights etc.

They don't seem to work with just the main operators also, as one of the shorter journeys we're taking is with a company called Jetblue Airways. They're like the US equivalent of RyanAir, but have a whole new fleet of planes with indiviual TV screens etc so presumably budget airlines in the US are not quite the budget we're used to.

HTH.
