DON'T GO NEAR REIDS FURNITURE in STILLORGAN!!!!!! is all I can say to describe our experience. They had to give us 100 quid off in the end because they messed everything up so much. They tried to deliver to us a week earlier than arranged and we hadn't moved in yet. They rang my boyfriend's Mother's house and started swearing down the phone at her to get over there to take delivery!! Then when they actually tried to deliver it on the right day, they attempted to deliver to our old address!!! Comical!! Worst people to deal with ever, don't care once you've signed on the dotted line. BEWARE.

You asked for good / bad stories and I have a bad one for you!

My friend had AWFUL bother with Jim Langans.

To cut a long story short, they bought a table and six chairs and a sofa.

The table and chairs arrived first and they were flat-packed (which they were not told about when they bought and the price certainly didn't indicate self assembly would be required). 2 of the chairs, when assembled, were fine, the rest of them were in a terrible state. They were only half-drilled (i.e. some of the holes for the screws were only partially drilled through) for self-assembly and the metal fixings were all rusted!! They were a shambles. My friend rang to complain in a very civil manner and got abused out of it on the phone by Jeff Langan. Unbelieveable! He was a right ignoramus.

Her husband then rang up and Jeff was nicer to him and promised him he would deliver 6 brand new, fully-assembled chairs. Come the promised delivery day, only 3 arrived.

They have a deposit on a sofa also and were promised it 2 weeks ago. It is going to take another 6 weeks. God knows what that will be like.

COWBOYS! I would never set foot into them.

Another vote here for CLASSIC FURNITURE. Found them excellent to deal with, deliveries when they said etc, no hidden costs. We got our suite, our tv unit, display cabinet and a mirror from them this time. Before I bought our dining suite from them. My parents also bought from them and no complaints.

All the best

I would stay away from Classic Furniture as there after sales service is appauling, the don't honour guarantees at all. I recently bought from land of leather and found both the sales people and deliver men to be helpful and very friendly, even managed to get them to knock a couple of hundred off the sofa price! Everyone is different, I had been warned off lots of places but it was the one place that had EXACTLY what I wanted and I didn't feel burdened into buying. Found the staff in Reids in Swords very unhelpful and that they were more interested in talking about the football results from the night before than dealing with customers.

I guess everyones experience is different. We found Land of Leather to be a complete nightmare. Didn't have sofa for delivery when they said they would, tried to sell us a more expensive replacement one which would be ready quicker, sales staff all friendly for initial sell and then complete 'up their own bums' when we wanted to sort out problems. NEVER again would I go to them, not in a fit!

Id go with the others and say avoid Reids - my sister was waiting 6 months AFTER the delivery date for her sofa....It was long wait when you're sitting on garden furniture with a box as a coffee table!!

Don't forget the likes of Bargain Town - very fast delivery and their stuff isn't that different to anywhere else

We ended up buying our sofa at http://www.thereclinershowroom.com/
They have most of their stock in the warehouse so you can get immediate delivery on most things! Also, we only had to pay 100 deposit and the rest on delivery. We haven't had the delivery yet so I'll reserve judgement till then but we're really happy so far with what we got.

I spent months looking for a sofa, ended up in pretty much every furniture shop in Dublin.
I finally got one in Arnotts. I nearly fell over when I went in and saw the prices, seriously, seriously gorgeous stuff but seriously expensive.
BUT...
I had a good chat with the man working there, told him the financial situation (not a lot!) and he directed me towards the sale items.

He was brilliant, told me he'd been working there 20 odd years and it showed. He wasn't trying to flog me anything, in fact when I made a decision and got the credit card out he sent me off for a cup of coffee to think about it some more and be sure it was what I wanted.

I got my Natuzzi sofa for cheaper than any of the other shops I'd been in, with a Arnotts guarantee, delivered two days later on time AND they took away an old one free of charge!

I would run a mile from Land of Leather, eejit in there was pushing extra insurance and insisting the sofa wouldn't be covered by home insurance (which of course it is).
My brother was SIX MONTHS waiting on furniture from Reids and I've heard nightmare reports about them too.

Hi

We spent ages looking for a sofa, we needed a unusual size and I wanted
a brown material one, then I found http://www.otooles.ie, they were great, they make to order, millions of materials and sizes, in town too.
The showroom is great and a 10 year construction guarantee. 2 years later is is still great. You can cutains to match too, but we were too broke

We had no problems with Reids. Our sofas were delivered on time and exactly what we ordered. My mum ordered from them and discovered a small tear in her sofa. She phoned them straight away and they sent someone out. He ordered a new one for her and let her keep the other one till the new one arrived...so all good from me.

Bought our dining table & chairs from Classic...delivered when they said they would be didn't tell us we had to assemble the table ourselves...though it was an easy enough job.

We bought our bed in Arnotts and they sent a guy out about 30mins after the delivery van to assemble it for us...at no extra charge. Thumbs up for them
