Just over 6 years on the big day. As regards why we didnt by now, couldnt afford to save for a wedding earlier with a nice big fat mortgage! I'd say a lot of others are the same. |

Knew him two years before we got together, hope to get married on the same day as our 5th anniversary, but will have known him for seven years at the stage...

We are together over 14 years and married nearly 2 years.
As for the why we waited so long - again very young when we met, then we bought a house and all that other stuff, and we wanted to save to get married rather than take a loan so it just happened when we could afford to do it the way we wanted to rather than anything else.
Also when we were first together we thought it was "cool" not to get married and for years told both families we were never doing it - to the point that it was a huge surprise when we announced we were getting married.

We'll be together 13 1/2 years when we finally tie the knot. We were only 16 when we started going out and both went to uni so it really wasn't an option early on. We were quite content to live together for a few years, get a house and be able to save comfortably for the wedding.
To be honest, if we had got married any earlier I don't think we'd have been truly ready. We're so excited now and are really enjoying all the planning which is because we're ready to take the plunge. _________________

We met just over a year ago and we're getting married next august. He said he knew by the third date that he wanted to marry me...I knew by the second! We figure whats the point in waiting around...can't wait to be Mrs. McG!!! _________________ The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return.

We will be together over 11 and half when we get married. Like the other posters we got together young and bought a house instead of getting married. In the house going on 6 years.
