We are looking at kitchens at the moment and are stuck between 2.
Its for our Kitchen come living area (so bare that in mind)
Looking for some advice
Option 1 is a pvc ivory wood finish its nice and ticks all the boxes but is a bit country kitchen but homely @ the same time!
Option 2 is a high gloss white or cream finish and is really lovely it is more expensive but only by about 500 so its not too bad but it all adds up!
So while we do love the high gloss one we stuck as we don't know if this too contempary and would make it harder to sell house in 5yrs or more when we plan to move on?
Can anyone help with pros and cons for gloss or pvc like maintanance etc!
Please help as we will have to live in the same space as a kitchen and want something to look great but not be too imposing on our living space.
Thanks _________________

Hi Decemberbride,
It is hard when you like a couple of things and need to chose isn't it? But I used to work in a kitchen company and I myself have a pvc kitchen but in maple and it still looks brand new. The are easy to keep and wear well.
On the other hand the high gloss wasn't "in fashion" when I was getting my kitchen but they are now the height of fashion and if I was choosing again I would pick a high gloss.
Seeing as it is your kitchen coming living space you need to decide if your theme is going to be comtemporay or homely. If comtemporay then go with the high gloss....and if homely then the ivory pvc. With regards to resale value....as long as it looks good in 5 years time (if you do sell) then I don't really believe that it will put people off if you chose one over the other. When I bought my house the kitchen in it was awful but I knew this house was the one so I bought it.
Hope this helps.

personally speaking i would go for option 1 - i dont like the idea of a white or cream kitchen and the country style would suit me perfectly _________________

it's hard to say without seeing them, but i prefer the sound of number 1. it was the "homely" look you described that sold me _________________

also depends on the style of the rest of your house - if everthing else is cool clean living and ultra modren then an old style country kitchen would look out of place - and visa versa..

I would have to agree with Bee07. Im in the industry myself and would always reccommend to people that they go with (firstly of course what they like!), but in your case if your torn between 2 choices and 2 very different styles, best go with what suits the style of the house.Make sure to have a good look around too before making your final decision and look through all the kitchen and interior magazines for ideas as well, any good kitchen company will design it to suit exactly what you want. Best of luck Decemberbride, let us know how you get on.

Hi December,
Quote: | Option 1 is a pvc ivory wood finish its nice and ticks all the boxes but is a bit country kitchen but homely @ the same time! | .. this is the one I would go with.
I had a white / cream kitchen before and although it looks nice it is a b*****d to keep clean.
