- Dear Karen, I''''m afraid I have quite a few invitation etiquette questions that I hope you can help me with. Unfortunately I''''m not in a position to locate an etiquette book, so I very much appreciate your help with my questions. Would you please confirm the correct way of addressing the following on the envelope: 1) Parish Priest 2) Priest (not Parish Priest) 3) Widow 4) Could you please let me know if it totally unacceptable to address somebody with their abbreviated name eg Tom, even if they really have never been known by anything else. 4) A single woman in her late fifties - is it true that ''''''''Ms'''''''' is only for corporate corresspondence? With regards to ''''''''and Guest'''''''' invitations, what is correct - 1) A single man in his sixties, should he receive and Guest. I think he should but my family thinks he would be insulted/embarrassed. Would you confirm that abbreviations, other than Mr., Mrs, Dr. etc, should not be written on the envelope eg Ave., St. Thank you very much for your help Karen. [Wed, 8th June, 2005]
