  October is breast cancer aweness month in Ireland and internationally. It is a month which aims to educate women about the importance of early detection in breast cancer, and also to raise money fto provide free advice and support to anyone who is concerned about or is affected by breast cancer.

  Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

  In October, Orla Kiely will launch a new exclusive accessories collection in Ireland to support Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society and Europa Donna Ireland The range will be sold exclusively through Brown Thomas in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway, hitting store’s the beginning of October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There will be four different styles on showcase; a classic shoulder bag (€160), a large book tote bag (€165), a zip wallet (€90) and a cosmetic bag (€85), maintaining Orla’s flair for fusing functionality and style. All proceeds will go directly to Action Breast Cancer, (a programme of the Irish Cancer Society) to provide services for younger women diagnosed with breast cancer and to Europa Donna Ireland, a patient advocacy group which campaigns for better cancer services nationwide.

  Partners of the Marie Keating Foundation for the month of October:

  Marks and Spencer, who has produced a fantastic range of pink themed products with 10% donation of sales being donated to the Foundation.

  In addition, all Marks and Spencer stores have the Foundation's pink merchandise available for sale at a cost of EUR 3.00.

  The James Dyson Foundation and DID, who are donating EUR 25.00 for every limited edition pink vacuum sold during the period October to December.

  Hibernian Health, who are continuing to sponsor the Foundation's annual Ladies Lunch on October 15th at Harvey Nichols, Dundrum Town Centre.

• AW Key Trends

  This season is all about peeling back the sequinns and shimmer and presenting a more refined, mature, and real version of yourself, through your clothes. On the catwalks across Europe; from Stella McCartney and Chloe in Paris, to Gucci and Prada in Milan, and back to Richard Nicoll in London, the consensus among the so-called 'big wigs' (so-called by moi) was 'Less is More'. Chic camel coats, luxury block velvets, neat envelope clutches and nipped in waists (thank you very much Mad Men) were the order of the day. Here's how to incorporate them into your Autumn/Winter wedding wardrobe.

  Key piece #1: The lace dress

  Muted, demure and always sexy, lace is back in a big way. Be careful not to overdo it on the wedding circuit though, as you may come out looking a bit desperate. A hint around the neckline is perfect for remaining covered up but glam. For shorter dresses, like the first three, try wearing some sheer black tights and let your accessories make the statement. Bangles and an oversized ring will do with either one of these dresses, and try dark purple shimmer nails to vamp it up a little. Clockwise from top left: M&S, M&S, Monsoon, Wallis.

  Key piece #2: The envelope clutch

  YSL, Celine, Philip Lim... the new going out bag is officially the oversized envelope clutch (Hallelujah). There's not much to say about this except if you haven't yet got on it, get on it, fast. Left to right: YSL at House of Fraser, F&F by Tesco.

  Key trend #3: Being a woman

  I can't say this better than Robin Gavin, fashion editor of the Washington Post, so I won't. "AW is a principled rebuke to all that rock-star tomfoolery -a pronouncement that there is something wonderful and priviledged about being a woman rather than a girl... These are clothes that allow women to be the star. They promise to support her in that endeavour. They will not speak for her..." Noone got this better on the high street than M&S. Ps I know there's very few who would wear that brown wrap dress with leather cuffs to a wedding, but I just HAD to share it with you. Amazing.)

  Key piece #4: Velvet

  Yes, I know. There are very few that can get away with a full blown velvet dress, (save the model in the pic above, HoF). Try it if you dare, if not, leave it to your accessories (see below).

  Key piece #5: Block heels

  Namely in the form of loafers, which I'm sure very few are excited about. If the loafer thing isn't your bit, try something a little less...Norway...like these from River Island.

  Key piece #6: The cape

  Perfect for everything, from work to weddings, the cape is the must have all rounder this AW. This one's from Warehouse, but please don't buy it. Cause I want it all to myself. Thanks.

• The Engagement Shoot

  Myself and Rachel met with the girls of The Bridal Lounge last night for an evening of champagne and inspiration. One of the things we discussed was the Engagement Shoot, how popular it is in the U.S and how it is slowly but surely creeping into the Irish wedding world. Engagement shoots are the perfect opportunity to get the intimate shots that can often be so hard to capture during the hecticness of the wedding day. You can wear whatever you want... shoot in 'your' place (your favourite street/park/gardens etc) and just generally relax and be yourselves, as a couple, with no fuss or muss. It's also a great way to get to know your photographer and for him/her to get to know your style as a couple, an important aspect in the success of your shots from the wedding day itself.

• What to wear for your Engagement Shoot

  Wear what you're most comfortable in, however keep it simple so that it's your face that tells the story rather than your clothes. Try stripes or polkadots for some of the shots, both photograph fantastically. Think about your setting also, if you're going the farm/park/picnic route the top outfits (just below, both River Island) would be perfect, as the greenery will provide the colour. For a more intimate setting, try the outfit on the middle left, from Pennys, or if you'd like to pop a bit of glamour into the shoot, go for the lace dress and cropped jacket combo, from AWear. The bottom two looks are both from Asos.com and are perfect for a laid back, sexy boho-style shoot.

• Coast Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection

  Coast have stepped up their regular and couture collection something fantastic this season. Rummaging around the press launch armed with a notepad and a breakfast fruit kebab I was delighted (and a little suprised I will say) to see that the new collection is hip without being too tacky and classic without being too mature. Well done Coast.

  If you're looking for something to wear to a friends wedding try their coctail dresses, they're simply stunning. And the best thing is, slap on a pair of black tights underneath and there's you Friday after-work bevs sorted for the winter months. Result.
