September 2012 Brides?????

Re: September 2012 Brides?????

Ahh raging i missed Franc on sun >:o( We were out for the day and my OH decided to unplug the sky box (again!) O:| I swear this will lead to divorce one day :o0
What are escort cards? I have never heard of these?
Hoping to get over to the lady doing our cake this week to finalise what we want.
Finally decided on songs for the church so need to get that sent to choir. Did anybody meet up with their church singers to go through song choices or did ye just email them what you wanted?
When is everybody going to have their tasting? I emailed our hotel to ask when we should come in for it and she just said to give her dates we can come up. I suppose it doesnt really matter when we do it does it? The food will still be the same :o0
Cant get over how close its getting. The bridezilla in me is definitely starting to come out lately :yelrotflmaosmilie:

Ohnoshedidnt It is so strange seeing 3 months on the tickers!

Escort cards are instead of a table plan so you have cards with peoples names and table numbers on them instead of a big board with the table plan printed. Franc said it is easier to make last minute changes as you aren't printing out the whole thing again.
You should be able to watch it on rte player.
Our church musicians said just send the music choices to them 3 weeks before, more than likely they will know the songs anyway but it gives them enough time to learn anything new.
I think we will do our tasting in July/ early August.

Oh thanks, don't think il have escort cards so! I think it could get a bit messy. Everybody rifling through trying to find their names! We get table plan and place cards in our hotel package anyway.
We will probably have our tasting in July too. Will just be easier once dd is on summer holidays as we have to go midweek.
Nearly 2 months till my hen!!! I think im more excited for that than the actual wedding. Theres no stress and i can just get rotten and enjoy it :hic

I really like the idea of escort cards too but with 300 guests I think it could be a lot of work, printing and cutting and sticking lots of individual things. We bought a massive mirror and are going to print of each table on a bit of laminate and stick them on. At least if there is a change its just one or two tables that will need redoing. Otherwise I don't give a damn if a table is wrong. I would go alphabetically highbeam easier to find them. My one worry about the table plan is people queing to see where they are so I am going to have a few small versions dotted around drinks reception too. (might also have an alphabetical list too at the door)

Awkward annie I would def do one. Ive been to two weddings without one and its just mania. Everyone running in trying to sit together, friends (even couples) ending up having to sit on separate tables with people they don't now. It will cause you a little stress but I don think it is worth it.

Our singer is a friend (Sharon Gaynor from the voice :o)ll :o)ll ) so she just emailed us some suggestions but said she was happy to sing anything. We also have a brass band and we just picked the pieces we liked (we are both members (me past) of bands so know the pieces they play.

We were meant to go to cake lady 2-3 weeeks ago but I was on a strict diet for 12 days and didnt want to tempt myself so think we are going end of June now.

Our hotel told us to get in touch about a month before hand for the tasting. Me. H2b and my parents are going (we have to pay €25pp for them which is fine)

Im definetly getting a little stressed. I wanted to be as organised as possible (which I am) but I have a lot of little finicky things that need doing that are taking more time, money, effort then they really should. Id change a lot of things if I was to turn back time (not do it again lol)

I think I am starting to feel the pressure now too. Particularly on the money front. And waiting on other people; waiting for replies from suppliers, people that offered to do things for us months ago and no matter how many hints I drop they keep saying Oh Ill do that this week and nothing. I've learned if you want something done do it yourself.

Drummerswife Sharon is a fantastic singer. Are you having Catch22 for the reception?

I haven't thought about the cake in ages. Need to finalize the colours and flavours, its on my July list!

You have your list organised by month :ooh :ooh :ooh
This is actually a very good idea. I must do this :o0 Mine is just one big list that i tried to put in order of importance but i keep adding things so its a bit all over the place. Finally starting to have more have dones than to dos though, which is a relief!

+1 My OHs cousin didnt have a plan and it was so hectic. Everybody pushing trying to get seats near the top and next their friends. OHs parents had to sit on a table down the back of the room with strangers which really upset them because mil would be very close to her niece.

We are having Blush choir which Clare O Loughlin from the voice is part of! Was so worried as to what would happen if she had won :o0

I wouldn't say its completely organised by month and I haven't stuck to it month by month but when I did the budget I wrote in around when things needed to be done by, so got the bigger things booked first, paperwork, registering, premarriage being done now, wedding rings next month and then confirming things and DIY is a lot of July and August. I actually did it to spread out the cost of paying for everything and not for organizational reasons but I could pretend it was because I am super organised! :innocent:

Highbeam thats a good idea alright I never stick to lists its very much as im in the mood for it. I love writing them as it clears the head but as for sticking to them thats another thing. :o0

No were not having catch 22 we are having the Enemies. They are one of our favourite bands and it was the first decision we made. Ohnoshedidnt we were the same with Sharon, everyone kept asking us what if she wins but she promised us she would be committed to our date, she will be a guest as well so its not just a gig.

Funny enough, around our part of the country table plans are rarely done. So yes when the bell goes for dinner its kinda like a mellee of people running for seats. And yes, sometimes you can end up with people on your table who you don't really know...

But what I really hate is the bell going and you walk into the dining room and loads of the tables already have coats on the seats - where people have already snuck in and claimed tables O:| O:| O:|

So, I'd really like to do a table plan but with 300+ people - where do you start??
But how do you go about grouping people together???
What happened with people who you've given a +1 to and you don't know the name of who they are bringing???

I don't think our hotel offers a tasting :o( :o( :o(

From reading different threads here, like this one and the Oct 2012 thread - I'm actually REALLY BEHIND. Haven't organised our church certs or letters of freedoms, haven't picked our songs for the church ceremony, we haven't gone looking for wedding rings, haven't decided where we're going on honeymoon, haven't picked jewellery or veils....... Really kinda panicking now!!

Ok here is what I am planning on doing. I am planning on printing out all the names and cutting them out so we can move them around etc. Take each group one at a time.
So we have Family a - Group into cousins, aunties and uncles etc. Then group into who would be closest. Then do the same for family b. We have one large group which is almost a family c :o0 Then its work colleageus, school friends, neighbours, etc....

Im hoping it should be ok. I have one or two people who won't know anyone so I will group them with people of similar age and maybe occupations or hobbies (one of my loner friends (only messing haha) is a teacher so ill put her with another friend who is a teacher. And similiar with musicians etc.

I have to speak with the hotel and hopefully we can have tables with different numbers so 8,10,12 and therefore I can aim for 10 per table but drop or add one couple if need be.

Ive seen table plans with Mary and Guest, Ive also seen Mary Black 1, Mary Black 2. I on the other hand am having personalised favours (name meaning bookmarks) so need to ring everyone and ask whats your guests name :-8 Dreading it. Im hoping most will reply with Me and my friend Marjorie will be delighted to come .......

Hope that helps a little

As for menu tasting I would insist on it. I went to a talk with Franc before and he said something about tastings that made a lot of sense Cant remember it now though :o0 . At that time I didn't think mine did either and decided I was going to insist on one. They do though so I dont have to throw a bridezilla strop.

I think I would be locked away if I didn't have all the big things done (honeymoon!!!! That was one of the first thigs we booked you know priorities and that :yelrotflmaosmilie: ) I suppose the way Im looking at them now is It has to be done so it will get done. Regardless of when.

Yes, thats a great help thanks.
That will be a fun evening - my entire kitchen table full of names. Knowing me I'll lose them.

Yeah the honeymoon isn't booked - we haven't even decided on where we are going - it'll be either America or Austrailia I guess. Gotta sit down at the weekend with h2b with the brochures I got from trailfinders and go through things. Its something I desperately want ticked off the list.

I just got an email there for a special offer - week in Barbados flying from Gatwick 5star hotel £849 which seems pretty good to me. It was from tropical sky. I can forward It on to anyone who wants it. I'm kinda sick as I thought by us booking early we would get a good price but I seen an offer for our honeymoon for about €1500 cheaper now it was different hotels but Dubai and Maldives are gonna be fab regardless of resort and hotel. Ah well what's done is done.
