September 2012 Brides?????

Re: September 2012 Brides?????

Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind me joining Sept 2012 brides. I am getting married on Sept 8th, have all the major stuff done invites went out yeterday, just the mass booklets and favours to do. I was watching Franc on Sunday night and got some ideas for the table plan they were interesting. I am doing this instead of a guest book. I thought it was a great idea and you can get it framed afterwards

http://www.etsy.com/search?q=wedding+tr ... pe=gallery

They also have hangers, I thought it would be nice for the photo of the dress to have something personalised

http://www.etsy.com/search?q=bridal+han ... pe=gallery

I went to arts and hobby store http://www.artnhobby.ie/ in Limerick and purchased the blank cards/envelopes in cream and made the invites myself. They cost me in total around 70 euros for 130 invites to make and post. They also do the cream paper which was 100 sheets for 3.99 in case anyone is looking for paper for their mass booklets. 150 cards with envelopes were on special offer for 19.99 and postage was 35 euros using the wedding booklets from an post which are 10 stamps for 5.50. I got my dress and wedding rings in New York back in November last year and saved around 2,500 sterling on the cost of the dress (it was not available in Ireland to purchase and this was the price I saw in Benjamin Roberts store UK). They shipped it over a month ago and I was so pleased with it (rk bridal is who I used). In these recession times we have to be savvy brides :-)
Also not sure if anyone has used lightinthebox.com for favours? They do have some good deals on there for cake boxes etc. For the church candles I got mine in homestore and more a couple of weeks back for 1 euro each. I am going to decorate them in my colour scheme . I think it was on Franc or don't tell the bride but one of the brides was decorating the candles with some nice paper and some nice pearl pins to hold the paper in place. I am seeing some candles out there for 70 euros upwards crazy. Mention the word Wedding and prices go through the ceiling. I know alot of people who are also booking their honeymoons last minute and getting fantasic deals. Please share any ideas you have for DIY Weddings thanks a mill girls not long now for us all.

Welcome to the Sept 2012 thread!!

Great deals you got there - well done!!

I've it on my list to get one of those personalised hangers too - for pictures of the dress hanging up on the morning of the wedding. Not going to bother getting bridesmaids hangers I don't think as I have 3 bridesmaids and I think it would work out expensive...

Sounds a good deal on the cream paper for mass booklets - thats something I have to purchase soon!

Yes, it was on Franc's DIY Brides that you seen the bride decorating the candles - great idea isn't it!!
I'm going to try to personalise my own unity candles with an image we are using for our invites and our names and the dates with tissue paper another wollie kindly sent me. Gonna get candles in homestore and more - shouldn't cost more than €10 for the 3 compared to €50/60 to get someone to do them for me!!

I'm also DIY'ing my invites. I've got all the paper components now all I've gotta do is start making them. Hoping to start them on the June Bank holiday and have them all finished by the end of June.
You've send your invites out already?? Why so soon? Is your wedding abroad?

Hi there,

The reason the invites went out so early is just to give people time to organise. Guests have alot of expenses as I well know (due to the amount of weddings I attended last year). Also it is a busy month for couples taking holidays and also kids going back to school so you want to give plenty of notice. Most invites I have received over the past year were out around 4 month's in advance and I really appreciated that myself.

Fair play to you thinking ahead and thinking of your guests - I'm gonna go 6-8 weeks beforehand....

So, WOL was slow so I said I would go onto eBay - and I've bought petal leaves for my table decorations, personalised hanger and Wedding Ring stickers for my Mass Booklet covers....
Its just too easy to buy anything off eBay with Paypal automatically linked up!

I've ordered a sample of chair sashes from eBay so once they arrive I'll order those. I've ordered the samples 2+ weeks ago and they still haven't arrived so I'd wanna be ordering the real thing pretty soon I'm thinking!!

I was gonna buy 3 samples of coloured card for my mass booklet covers off Daintree but I had to put in my credit card number instead of Paypal and I don't have it on me at the minute, so that will have to be done next time

What are you girls doing for underwear? Wheres the best place to look??
I was thinking of waiting until my dress comes in and seeing then what underwear I'll need.......
Same with shoes..... I have them picked, I just wanna wait until closer to the time until I buy them incase they are wrong heel height or colour so I can bring them back...

I just had this conversation with BM yesterday - I have no idea what to do.

My dress has straps and high enough back so normal bra will be fine - so maybe I'll just wear my normal stuff and see what's like first fitting and then after that buy the real stuff.

I am either going to debenhams or peaches and cream

Hensnight to be honest if I got an invite now for a sept wedding I'd prob lose it or forget about it. The norm is 6-8 weeks unless your getting married abroad.

Just dropped my paper off in Daintree to be cut and folded, BM gonna collect it Mon then we can start assembling them. Arranged a date with the priest for the pre Nup. Going bm's shoe shopping next sat. So getting there slowly.

I'm the same nostress don't think I need very Soecial underwear but think I'll go to debenhams for some pretty, good set. Need to pick up perfume and pj's to do ill get them all there.

Ye eBay is dangerous. I have a limit (personal) on th cc each month and when I reach that, that's it no more buying. How much was the hanger if you don't mind me asking.

I picked one with the wire personalised and also a celtic heart around the top so it was a little more expensive - €35 including shipping from the US. I know, a little expensive but they can be gotten cheaper without the other design...

Its cheaper again if you get the standard Bride 2 Be instead of Mrs. Smith

Is everyone getting a videographer??

Thanks for that. That's actually not bad for an expensive one must look into it.

Ye were getting a videographer. It was a definite for us as we really wanted as many memories as possible. We have Jmb videos what we liked about them is how friendly they are but also there is 2 of them so they won't miss anything (hopefully).

For transport we have two limos (one is just a sheriff one bringing groom to our church for a bit of craic) and a silver and navy beauford. My bro has just bought a fab 1985 BMW in cream it would be fab as a wedding car and I'm so tempted to ring the company and cancel the classic but h2b doesn't want me to do that. I'll see how much we would save first before we make the decision, any advice.

Yeah I've gone with JMB videos too! Yeaaaaaaaah someone has booked a supplier I have! I thought them to be so friendly and their work is fabulous. We wouldn't be mad on video cameras but thought it was important to have lots of memories, and with two cameras hopefully we wont miss too much!
We've gone with the combined package with Nicky McDonnell as our photographer.

I've had second thoughts on all of my suppliers but i recently seen a neighbours wedding video and it was awful... So I have NO second thoughts on JMB videos. Mike & Jimmy have been gentlemen so far.

Cars - We've booked a white/cream Chrysller Saloon for us and the matching limo for the bridal party. Booking cars was the one job I gave h2b and he wanted a Chrysller so when he seen them at a wedding fayre he booked them straight away. It's all he's done so far and probably all he will do!!!!!!
The old BMW would be great, I love them but The vintage car would probably look fabulous in photos... See how much you would save - put it towards spending money for your honeymoon!

Morning ladies,

For Bridal underwear I was advised by Sis in law to be that the best place was "peaches n cream" in Dublin but they are meant to be expensive. M&S is always good especially the one in Blanch and they do the fitting service fo you. I would say though alot of dresses now have the built in bra as mine does. For transport we got a Bentley Chrysler. To be honest I was very shocked at the prices of the cars. I was getting quotes over 450 euros which is madness for a few hours. We got the Bentley very reasonable. On another topic what are you girls doing for favours?

I'm not doing favours
We are getting married abroad so can't be bringing too much stuff with us.
Going to buy mothers some local craft glass instead of flowers.

can't decide on the car - looking at either a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud Convertible or a horse and carriage.
I think I want to walk from the church to the hotel, it's a 10 mins walk but we'd do it slowly and take photos along the way. OH thinks it's too far too walk as it'll be about 30 degrees (hopefully) but the town is so pretty and pedestrianised so with the car we'll still have to walk anyway

4 months tomorrow :eek

Hi everyone - i'm a sept bride but haven't posted in ages. My mum passed away 6 months ago & I was focused on dealing with that rather than anything wedding related . Well I am pleased to say I have my focus back now & it's full steam ahead with all the plans. It has been great seeing how you are all getting on & it's really helpful 2 see all the lists of to do's. 1st thing I think i should do is contact the priest, haven't anything legal or religious done yet & I suppose that's the most important side of things. Nice to be back on board again :o)ll

Hi Ladies,

Did you have a good weekend, didn't get much wedding things done.

Love the hangers, thinking of getting one for me. I can see an etsy shopping spree in the near future!

I am doing favours, think they will be after dinner mints.

Underwear I am going to look in Debenhams, I'm not too big on top so I don't think Ill need anything unusual just a good strapless bra should do me fine and don't need spanx type underwear so something normal will be fine. One thing girls, a lot of the shops say you should have underwear and shoes before your first fitting so maybe ask the shop when you make the appointment.

Hi Gotmyrock, sorry to hear about your Mam. Glad you are back into the swing of planning. Be sure to register your marriage with the state in the next few weeks this has to be done at least 3 months before the wedding. I would ring to get an appointment as soon as you can as they can be booked out.

Yes we are having a video, have watched a few friends videos recently and they are lovely to have.

Nostress - I like the idea of walking back to the hotel and getting photos along the way.

Hi, Sorry about your loss :action32
Do you know that you have to have your intent registered 3 months before your wedding? Which means you only have 3 weeks left to do it :eek
Have you the church booked for your date?

drummerswife2b wrote:Hensnight to be honest if I got an invite now for a sept wedding I'd prob lose it or forget about it. The norm is 6-8 weeks unless your getting married abroad.

I sent my invitations to everybody living abroad a couple of weeks ago as they have to book flights and hotels. Alot of my family from england would come over here in aug for their holidays aswell so wanted to make sure they booked to be here for my wedding :-8
I suppose we could have sent save the dates but i just think they are a waste of money!
My irish invites will be going out early june i think.
Iv received loads of invites up to 6 months before for weddings at busy times of the year.

As for underwear and shoes, im going shopping in the next few weeks. I bought my dress off the rack but it needs slight alterations on the bust and length, my first fitting is on june 30th and i have to have the underwear and shoes with me on that day so she knows how much to take off etc....

Im not doing favours either. Couldnt find anything i wanted to get and OH thinks they are a waste. His actual words were " Arent we paying 50e for their dinner, plus champagne and canapes and wine, why do they need a gift too??" :yelrotflmaosmilie:
Its always nice to get a male perspective!!! :o0

What did everyone think of Franc last night? Wasnt much in it for me to use.
I was in tears for the bride when she was trying on dresses :o( Oh and when she got tyre spray all over the dress :ooh :ooh Fair play though it didnt seem to bother her. I think thats my worst nightmare. Iv banned my 3 yr old from coming anywhere near me with food or grubby hands on the day :o0
