Hi

Im actuallt still waiting for my tax relief, we didnt really know anything about it and only applied foe it in June, we were in the house since September, think there could be a form to apply for previous years but havent really looked into it yet, try the revenue online, gives a list of forms.

Yes, it can be backdated, plus you get your whole 12 months spread out over the months left in the tax year. e.g, single persons tax relief is 66. 12 months x 66 = 792 per annum. If you drew down your mortgage in September, this 792 will be spread out evenly over Sept - Dec, so rather than 66 you will get 198 each of those 4 months (792/4). From January then this will revert back to 66. Presumably if you are backdating into last year, then the spread will be even bigger.

ya we got a letter about ours saying how much it was and that we could request a cheque or it could be used a a prepayment on the mortgage, we thought that this was great and spent a fortune that month thinking that we only had a couple of hundred to pay on mortgage. Ya right the whole lot came out. we had really over spent so out came the credit cards. When we rang up about it they said its a prepayment on your LAST mortgage installment. What a load of crap! So we requested the cheque!

I rang them & they told me I could request a cheque, get the money put back into our account or pay it off oue mortgage.

So when I rang them back to tell them put it back into the account, a different women told me that they don't do that. It can be only taken off our mortgage repayments.

So we have no mortgage repayments this month & only half to pay next month
