Just wondering if many of you are going to use i pods instead of a dj? My H2B wants to use an ipod but im not so sure. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.I know it would save us money but would it just be more hastle?

My personal opinion: Get a DJ! He will know exactly what music to play and when. And you can discuss your ideas with him. By using an Ipod you will have a lot more work beforehand sorting out all the music and a DJ will know how to get and keep people on the dance floor!
But that's only my opinion of course. Good luck making your decision...

At least use a laptop so that the songs can be blended together - with an ipod you will have gaps of several seconds between each song.

Get a good DJ, it won't save you any money using an iPod.
You need to hire a disco system if you use either a laptop or iPod.
I'm not totally sure of what you get but its basically the speakers and lights etc.
we are only having a DJ for the night and he is excellent so its a weight of my mind.

Get a DJ, he can read the crowd and play the music that suits the atmosphere on the night.

I agree, get a DJ, as they're professionals at choosing the right music to suit the crowd & the atmosphere at a particular time, as this varies during the night They read the mood & taste of the crowd, when a certain genre of music just isn't working they change it & try out something else.... i think thats invaluable for keeping people on the dance floor! And as far as know, DJs in Ireland aren't very expensive.

Definitely get a DJ, he is a professional afterall and will know what gets the crowd going, my DP DJs and says that depending on the crowd you have to vary the music from wedding to wedding!

An iPod just will not provide the right atmosphere - it's fine for a house party but not for your wedding reception. As a lot of the girls have said, a DJ can read the crowd and can jazz things up as and when needed.... make it easy on yourselves - let someone else do the hard work

Just for the hell of it, I enquired about hiring a DJ set-up.
The prices start at 90.00 + 50.00 to have it delivered and collected.
I still say that a DJ is better value TBH.
