december07 bride, I do not think you are being over the top at all. I would do exactly the same in your situation, I don't know why men cant see when you are trying to help them.
I dread to think what would happen if my h2b lost his licence. We live in our own home town, but it is not a very big town and since we are on the outskirts we have to drive ourselves almost everywhere. I cant imagine the rows if he lost his licence.
I think you shold try to explain one more time why you are offering and tell him that if he is stopped and looses his licence that you do not want to know about it as it will be his own fault. I know my h2b always rings me if he needs a lift home and would be delighted if I were to offer to drive all that way. Its not like you are going to the stag after all, only providing the necessary transport home.
