How to make some home made hair care treatments that will work wonders, and help you get on the road to beautiful hair.

An important thing to remember is that your hair reflects what's going on inside the body. So in order to achieve great looking hair, you must look further inside to find where the problems lie. Apart from regular trims at the salon, you must also ensure your body has the proper ingredients to nourish your hair.

Water - If you are not drinking enough water, this will inevitably show through to your hair. It is important to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.

Protein - This gives strength to your hair. If you have a sufficient amount of protein in your diet, this will protect you against damage.

Minerals - All the different minerals carry out individual tasks to ensure your hair looks and feels great.

  • Iron: This carries oxygen to the hair root. If the root of the hair is not strong enough, this will in turn affect the quality of the whole strand.
  • Copper: This optimizes your natural hair colour as copper promotes hairs natural pigmentation.
  • Zinc: This keeps the hair strong and supple.

Vitamins - Vitamins are extremely important in achieving healthy hair. Supplements can be fantastic, if you are lacking them in your natural diet. Vitamin A although usually connected with skin care is great in hair care, as it gives you a healthy scalp. Vitamin B and C, are important for healthy growth and strong hair roots, follicles and in turn the strands.

Chemical Build-up's

Sometimes you might notice after using your favourite shampoo for a while it does not have the same effect as when you first started using it. This could be caused by, a build up of the agents in the formula. A tip to get that initial effectiveness back is by doing the following.

Fair Haired: Add a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice when rinsing your hair.

Dark Haired: Add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar when rinsing your hair.

Another tip to rid your locks of a chemical build up is to use Baking Soda. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in your palm with your normal shampoo, and shampoo as usual. This results in natural squeaky-clean hair.

Dandruff

Dandruff can affect us all at some stage, and along with causing embarrassment it can be hard to rid your locks of it. Here is a quick effective method of ridding your hair of dandruff.

(1) Pour vinegar over your head, massaging into the scalp
(2) Leave to dry for a few minutes
(3) Wash the hair thoroughly
(4) Repeat the process over about 2/3 days, and you should be clear of dandruff.

Strawberry Delight Hair Mask

This mask is great for replacing lost moisture, and will also leave your hair with a brilliant sheen.

You will need:
8 Strawberries
Mayonnaise

  • Put your strawberries into a bowl and mash until they are in a thick paste.
  • Mix in a tablespoon of mayonnaise, and blend well.
  • Massage the mixture into washed damp hair. Paying lots of attention to the scalp and the hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap, or a plastic lunch bag.
  • Have a heated towel ready, and wrap this around your head.
  • Leave for about 20 minutes.
  • Then wash out, rinsing well.


Avocado Supreme Lift

This mask is fantastic for giving a lift to dull hair. It will bring back life to tired hair.

You will need:
1 Avocado
Honey

  • In a bowl mix the avocado with 2 tablespoons of honey, until you have a runny paste.
  • Massage the mixture into your dry hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap, or a plastic lunch bag.
  • Have a heated towel ready, and wrap this around your head.
  • Leave for about 20 minutes.
  • Then wash out, rinsing well.


Hot Honey Oil Treatment

This hot oil treatment is great and can be used weekly. It nourishes the hair and leaves it strong and healthy looking.

You will need:
Non-Plastic Container
Olive Oil
Honey

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of Olive oil with 1 tablespoon of honey in a glass dish.
  • You will need to heat the mixture gently in your container in a dish of hot water; alternatively you could heat it briefly in the microwave.
  • Apply to dry hair.
  • Massage from the scalp to the tips of the hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap, or a plastic lunch bag.
  • Have a heated towel ready, and wrap this around your head.
  • Leave for about 20 minutes.
  • Then wash out, rinsing well.


Eggtastic Deep Conditioning

Great for dry hair, it gets deep into the hair and replenishes over styled hair.

You will need:
1 Egg Yolk
Baby Oil
Water

  • Separate the egg yolk from the white, and beat the yolk in a bowl until its get frothy. Add 1 teaspoon of the baby oil into the mixture, and blend well.
  • Add 1 cup of luke warm water and stir.
  • Massage through previously shampooed hair.
  • Rinse.


Glossy Gin Tonic

Great for all hair types, a pick me up and as the title suggests a tonic. Giving your hair life, and shine.

You will need:
Gin
2 Egg Yolks

  • Beat the two egg yolks until they are frothy.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of Gin.
  • Mix until you have a foamy liquid.
  • Massage into the scalp and hair
  • Rinse with warm water.
