Alternative Wedding Event for anyone thinking about making it legal!

One of a Kind Weddings have partnered with the Guinness Storehouse to host Dublins Alternative Wedding Event on Sunday 27th February.

This event is the first of its kind in Dublin - an event aimed specifically at Brides and Grooms wanting to create a wedding as unique as they are, focussing on alternatives to the traditional wedding, as well as introducing eco-chic weddings.

Civil weddings are rapidly gaining in popularity in Ireland and it is likely that they may overtake religious ceremonies by 2012. Recent changes to legislation allowing people to marry in venues other than churches and registry offices have influenced this shift. Added to this the other reforms in the law around civil partnerships means that there is a changing attitude to Despite these changes, most wedding events and packages still expect that couples will be happy to jump aboard the wedding conveyor belt to carry on down the traditional route of church and hotel. As such One of a Kind Weddings was established to bridge this gap and help couples create the wedding of their dreams.

“When people fall in love and decide to get married they start off with a picture in their head of what they want their day to be like. However with the amount of information out there sometimes they lose their way and get caught up planning the wedding that everyone expects them to have” says Linda McAllorum, Perfect Irish Weddings. Linda is a wedding planner with more than five years experience. Her partner, Andrea Carroll, is a highly experienced environmental consultant, writer and media correspondent on green issues. Together they formed One of a Kind Weddings to help people rediscover the potential in their big day and create the wedding of their dreams.

Some people want to get married in a castle, on a beach or in a garden, have their union blessed by a celebrant or create a Halloween themed banquet. The Alternative Wedding Event will give you all the inspiration and contacts you need to make this dream come true. The event will be held on Sunday 27th of February between 12 noon and 6pm. The venue itself (The Guinness Storehouse) is not only Dublin’s number one tourist attraction but it is also a fabulous alternative venue for weddings. There will be seminars, a vintage bridal show and discussion forums, as well as competitions and spot prizes on the day. Much more than the average wedding fair this event will help you understand the options for weddings in Ireland - much more than the traditional church and hotel routine. Tickets are 10 on the door, but can also be bought at a discount price online, at www.oneofakindweddings.net.
