Catherine and Jonathans Real Wedding

Jonathan and Catherine had an elegant wedding in the Lough Erne Golf Resort, Enniskillen.

Lough Erne provided the perfect backdrop for pictures of their day, which were captured beautifully by photographer, Richard Watson.

They got engaged in New York and wanted to use this theme throughout the day. Their wedding favours were Yankee Candles and American Whiskey miniatures and the tables were famous NY landmarks.

Catherine loves lace and so made it the main feature in her vintage inspired dress and her emerald green bridesmaid dresses. To help make their day even more unique, Catherine arrived by sea plane to everyones delight.

Their wedding day was made perfect by the love and laughter of friends and family!

Length of engagement: April 2010 to May 2011

Wedding date: Monday May 30, 2022

Wedding location: Lough Erne Golf Resort, Enniskillen for both the ceremony and the reception

Wedding photographer: Richard Watson

How you met? We met in April 2008. I went out on a Friday night and Jonathan on a Saturday night in the same town. We both went home, using the same taxi driver. Sean, the taxi driver, knew each of us well and thought we made the perfect couple and couldn’t resist in match-making. We met, fell in love and ended up getting married!

What were your first impressions of Jonathan? I thought he was handsome, very attentive to me and a true gentleman.

What were Jonathan’s first impressions of Catherine? I fell in love with her big green eyes right from the first date.

What was your proposal? It was in a helicopter over the Statue of Liberty in New York. It was so romantic and truly amazing.

What was your wedding/ theme colours? We got engaged in New York and wanted to use this theme throughout the day, therefore the wedding favours were Yankee Candles and American Whiskey miniatures. Our first dance was Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys. The table plan was also informal with all circular tables, and all tables were famous NY landmarks. Of course the bride and groom’s table was the Statue of Liberty!

We chose our venue because… Lough Erne Golf Resort, Enniskillen is a five star resort and is an exceptional location beside the lake. It’s classy, beautiful, has an excellent service, superb food, serene surroundings and the perfect choice for our wedding. The reeds in the lake surrounding the wooden walkway made for the perfect photos!

What was your dress like? My dress was made by a Spanish designer San Patrick. It was an antique ivory colour with the lace bolero as the main feature. It was exquisite. It was the first shop I went to and the first dress I tried on

What was your ceremony like: We wanted to have an informal approach. Everyone was super relaxed and had a ball! Eunice Ferguson from Fermanagh Borough Council was fantastic. She guided us through the process and helped us make the ceremony very personal and meaningful. Arriving to Adele ‘Make you feel my love’ played by our pianist and having our own personal readings including one by our children was very special.

What was your favourite part of the wedding? The ceremony, seaplane, speeches, fire performance and fireworks.

What is your advice for other brides? Plan, plan, plan .... Get written confirmations for everything. Stick to your theme, it is very easy to panic near the date and go out panic buying. Use the internet, millions of ideas to save time running around shops. Believe in yourself and go for it!!!
