Ballymagarvey Village - Midsummers Event a Huge Success

Ballymagarvey Village, a beautifully restored flax mill village located in the heart of County Meath hosted its first ever Midsummers Evening event on Saturday the 13th of August.

The event was a huge success with over three hundred guests in attendance. The evening promised a myriad of activities celebrating past and future weddings along with the remarkable history of the village. The evening also marked the launch of the new civil ceremony room aptly named the Mill Loft which has been converted into a unique setting for civil partnership weddings.

The event kicked off with a welcoming drinks reception and guests were treated to an assortment of canap's and tasting plates served by their 5 Star Chef. While everyone's taste buds were enjoying the food that evening, their other senses were being treated to a selection of musical delight. The "craic agus ceol" from the trad band in the Irish snug was nicely contrasted with the easy listening female vocals in the civil ceremony room and the background piano playing in the conservatory making the whole village alive with the sound of
music. The guests were then invited to join Vincent Callan in a guided tour of the restored 18th Century Manor House and Milling Village where they learned about the history of the property during its 210 years and how it has been lovingly restored over the last few years.

After the guided tours on the history of the property, it was now time to begin a new tradition. As part of the rejuvination program of Ballymagarvey, couples who have been married here were being welcomed back to take part in the restoration of the old 8 acre orchards on the estate. Working with the Irish Seed Savers Association, Ballymagarvey Village and the wedding couples will plant every species of apple and pear trees indigenous to this country. On the night, 50 trees were planted by the couples who had been married here since the opening of the property. Each tree will have a plaque with the names of the couple of who planted it and who have become "Friends of Ballymagarvey Village".

Coming down from the orchard guests were met by the familiar smells of an outdoor wood burning BBQ in the court yard. With the Glen Miller Legacy band playing in the background, past and future couples had a chance to mingle over dinner and to swap stories and advice.
With drinks, dinner and dancing until the wee hours, it was a great night to be had by all. Ballymagarvey Village is a five star venue for weddings and corporate events. This heritage location is fast becoming the location of choice for select weddings. For further information please contact [email protected] or call 0419825959.
