Real Bridal Beauty - Dawn Ryan, Glamour by Dawn

Real bride Aoife wanted her make-up to look classic and timeless, and with her beautiful dark hair and brown/green eyes, make-up artist Dawn Ryan knew exactly how to achieve just that. Here, Dawn tells us how she created the look for the day, and shares her bridal beauty secrets with us too!

Bride's Name: Aoife Temin (now Mrs. Aoife Temin O Brien!)
Make-up Artist: Dawn Ryan, Glamour by Dawn

Aoife’s Requests: Aoife’s requests were simple and to the point! She wanted to look like herself, but at her best.  She has big brown/green eyes which she wanted to emphasise, without going too over the top.  Aoife has such natural beauty anyway that I knew exactly what I was going to do.  Her dress was quite vintage and slimline and had the most intricate Chantilly lace detail.  She wanted her overall look to be classic and timeless.

Aoife’s Hair: Aoife’s hair was done by Susan Peggs of the Powder Room Girls.  Her hair was swept back in a full structured chignon - which again reflected the classic style Aoife was going for.  She didn’t wear a veil so the hair was finished with beautiful bun comb which sat just above the chignon.

How to achieve Aoife's look

Aoife opted to go for the natural skin look (no fake tan!) which suited her perfectly.  I knew that with her dark hair and big eyes I needed to create a flawless canvas to fit with her classic theme.  I used MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - finished with a Studio Fix Powder to matte the skin.  To emphasis Aoife’s eyes I used MAC in Patina and Shroom, I very slightly smoked the sockets with Bobbi Brown Mocha.  I used Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner - and finished with Eyelure Individual Eyelashes to thicken and fill her own.  For her lips, again to keep it natural, I used MAC Dervish Lipliner and MAC VIVA GLAM V lipstick.  For her cheeks I used MAC Taupe to contour and MAC Springsheen blush.  To give a nice dewy finish, I highlighted Aoife’s cheeks, brow, tip of her nose and the top of cupids bow with Makeup Forever highlighter.   Aoife looked glowing, radiant and absolutely stunning.

Beauty advice for brides:

What I say to all my brides - think about looking at your wedding album in 10 years time.  You want to remember how beautiful and happy you felt that day. Make-up should be timeless, and most of all a reflection of you looking your absolute best.  If you want to go for a vintage or smoky look make sure it’s a version that again brings out the best in you. Think Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, we look at pictures of them from many years ago and they look amazing. That is timeless!
