Viking Wedding Fun in Dublin City by DKPHOTO.
Sinead and David were married in Dublin city centre in July this year in what looks like one of the most fun and relaxed wedding celebrations we've seen on WeddingsOnline. Daniel of DKPHOTO had his work cut out for him as the photographer for the day, as not only did the couple hire a very unusual mode of transport to get them from church to ceremony, but they weren't exactly looking forward to having all eyes on them either! "David hates posing for photos and I hate being the center of attention," said Sinead, "so, as you can imagine, that’s a tough mix for a wedding photographer!" The photos speak for themselves however, as the atmosphere of the day is translated by Daniel's beautiful documentary photography. "David and I had so much fun and I am delighted that the photos reflect that," said Sinead, "they are a true representation of our wedding and of us as a couple. Every time I look at them I can’t help but smile." Neither can we!
Length of engagement: One year
Wedding date: 14th July 2012
Wedding location: Tailors' Hall, near Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin.
Photographer: Daniel from DKPHOTO
We met... in college 1999
Your first impressions of David... he was smart, funny and tall.
David's first impressions of you... I've just asked him, and his romantic response..."Why are you asking that, it was years ago, I can't remember that stuff."
Our proposal... He planned the proposal for a Friday evening after dinner (that he made me cook!) After a feast of sausage, egg and chips he went to make tea but came back with a ring... I never did get the tea!
My dress... I wore an original vintage gown from Dirty Fabulous. The ladies there know their fashion, and can help with accessories too.
Our ceremony... We got married in a traditional Church, with immediate family only.
Our transport... We got from the church to the reception on the Viking Splash Tour, it was quite an alternative method of travelling but it was great fun!
Our photographer... Daniel from DKPHOTO is an AMAZING photographer, the photos are exactly what we wanted. He captured the day perfectly.
Our wedding theme/colours... Shabby chic with green accents.
We chose our venue because... We wanted everything local. the church was walking distance from our home and my parents got married there. The reception was held in Tailors' Hall so we had everything in the city centre. Tailors' Hall is a wonderful venue - they were so helpful and went above and beyond for us.
My favourite part of the wedding day... Too many to list.... I spent most of the day laughing so that's a good sign!
My piece of advice for other brides... It's really important to do it your way, you'll spend so much time, effort and money that you need to make sure you've no regrets. The day goes so fast so try and take 10 minutes with your new husband to take it all in and enjoy it together.
Our honeymoon... We went to Thailand!
Other vendors
Hair stylist: Dylan Bradshaw - agreat way to start the day, in a private room with champagne - the hairstyles lasted as long as we did! they were so good I'm now a regular customer!
