2. Cut the Guest List- Don’t rely on people not attending for the final number. Try to form a patterned plan and stick to it. You could start by eliminating children and colleagues.

3. Go Off-Peak- Chose a day and time where you can avail of a discount. Many hotels offer discounts for weddings held between November and April, or weddings on a Monday to Thursday.

4. Negotiate- Suppliers want your business, and they will be anxious to please you. You should try to negotiate during these stages. Be honest with what you can afford and be willing to compromise.

5. Bring your own Wine- Keep an eye out for offers, as two for the price of one offers crop up every so often. You could also try to negotiate corkage fees from your hotel.

6. Alter the Menu- Cut one item from the menu. Replace a fancy appetizer with a consomm�, and you could save more than €2 per person.

7. Use your Cake as Dessert- Many hotels include dessert on the menu and the price; let yours know you want to serve the wedding cake instead.

8. Buy Off the Rack- Hit the high street for great deals on bridesmaid dresses, flower girls and possibly even your own gown. Many of the retailers are offering bridal lines these days.

9. Try Second Hand- There are many brides willing to sell on their precious gowns. Remember these have probably only been worn once. If you have it cleaned and fitted, it will be like new. WeddingsOnline.ie has a Buy and Sell forum where you can peruse dresses from fellow Wollies.

10. Skip the Hair and Beauty Trials- If you trust you’re stylists enough, you don’t necessarily have to do a trial before the wedding.

12. D.I.Y.- There are plenty of great resources out there that have step by step guides to making everything from invitations and bouquets to favours.

13. Go for In-Season Flowers- Flowers that are in season will be cheaper to source and easier to get, so talk to your florist about which blooms would be best for your wedding.

14. Minimise RSVP Costs- Ask guests to either e-mail their RSVPs or have them use their own stationery.

15. Prioritise Photographer Schedule- Decide what you really want your photographer there for. You could ask the photographer to skip the house and meet at the ceremony. This can cut costs drastically.
