Rome and Sardinia recommendations needed please!

Hi all!

I'm fairly new to this so bear with me!

We have just booked our honeymoon for July. Plan is to fly to Rome, have a 7 day cruise, then 4 days in Rome and 4 days in Sardinia. I'm looking for suggestions for nice and rosemantic (but not break-the-bank!) hotels in both places.

Anyone got any suggestions??

Hi,
I'm looking for the exact same thing - reasonable priced, romantic hotel in Rome. I haven't gotten any feedback on my posting, unfortunately. My mum's been before, and recommended the hotel she stayed in the Welcome hotel near Termini station. The hotel has no air con, though - and apparently Rome gets hot in July & August (I'm going in August), so air con is a must :duh:
I read online too that if you stay near the Trevi fountain, you're pretty much within walking distance of all the sights. I was using bookings.com to search hotels in rome, and they have a great feature where you can see the location of hotels on a map, with the major landmarks marked as well, so you can see how close the hotels are to everything :compress
Trip advisor is a great tool for this kind of search, too. From what I've been told, though, central Rome hotels are going to be on the small side, but the pay off is worth it, not to have to get the underground train or bus into the city :eek
Anyway, hope some/any of that helps! Good luck in your search & if you see anything fabulous, will you post & let me know too?

Check this one out girls, we booked it last week after searching for a hotel for ages. They have good deals on from time to time on their own website. Only hotel I found that seems to be of a similar standard to Irish hotels and it's reasonable.
Not a clue on Sardinia unfortunately :-8

Thanks Streaks for your reply. Kellcarr how have you gotten on? We booked in the end the Hotel Milton (4 star, although not sure how much that means in Italy) for 4 night.
