Thailand in july/august....good idea/bad idea?

Thailand in july/august....good idea/bad idea?

Postby galbridezilla » Fri Apr 27, 2022 11:59 am

After spending a full year discussing our dream 3 week american road trip honeymoon we've changed our minds!!

After getting some massive quotes ( :eek ), we sat down and realised, that we'd much prefer to spend the same amount of money living in luxury somewhere relaxing. H2B has heart set on Thailand, and whiles i'm all for it, i'm worried about going there during the rainy season.

has anyone here experience of Thailand in late july/early august?
Is it really wet and muggy?

I was there in July/August and loved it, can rain but sometimes it was nice cause it cleared the air, never lasted for long and we always had every day on the beach, loved it and would go again :)

There's 2 rainy seasons is Thailand. The one that's worse in most areas is in September/October/Start of Novermber.

July/August is rainy, but for like an hour a day (usually around 4) and then at night. I really don't think it would affect your trip much. I'm getting marreid here in July, on a beach so I'm not too worried about it.

The rain is nice, cools the weather a bit (was mid 40's yesterday!), and clears the air.

We went to Thailand on our honeymoon at that time last summer. We had an amazing time and I would definitely recommend it. We were advised that the Gulf of Thailand side (east) is better to visit in July/August. We spent 2 nights on Bangkok (we were reluctant to spend any time here but glad we experienced it for a short time), 5 nights in Chiang Mai (amazing) and a week in Koh Samui. There were some rainy periods but it usually cleared pretty quickly. When it was hot, it was really hot. We weren't too bothered about the weather, but it was good most of the time. I would definitely recommend Thailand. The people were great, the food is amazing and it's such an interesting place. You can have such different experiences in different parts of the country. We booked with Trailfinders, can recommend where we stayed if you're interested.
