Honeymoon in South Africa during April???

Honeymoon in South Africa during April???

Postby bride14 » Mon May 07, 2022 11:10 am

Hi all, new to this today...
I've just recently got engaged and am trying to decide on dates. My options are April or July and the Honeymon is really important to me. I've always wanted to go to South Africa and go on Safari and have a bit of time in the sun too (I want the best of both worlds :yelrotflmaosmilie: ) If anyone has ever been to South Africa during these months or has any info to share I'd really really appreciate it.

Such exciting times ahead O-O
Thanks.

Congratulations on your engagement! South Africa in April is lovely. It's their autumn but the days are still warm (some even hot). The nights are cool but not cold yet. If you're determined to sunbathe, it might not be the best time of year to go as although it's warm, you can get days where it's low 20s or even in the teens. For definite hot weather and sunbathing you're really looking at Oct-March. For safari though I'd say it's a great time of year. I'd avoid SA in July- Cape Town and the southern coast would be very rainy and it can be very cold at night.

Hi

We are in Port Elizabeth :wv it is moving into winter but the sun is shinning the sky is blue and it will be 32 degrees today which is one of the reasons why it is so great to live here.

The weather in April is normally mid 20's in April but cooler at night July is normally early 20's and again cool at night.

Cape Town has Table Mountain which is 1800 meters the height of Snowdon in the middle of it so the weather is very variable, it can be cold and wet or baking hot in the same day.

If you choose to visit in July I suggest you take the safari part in Kruger as it is a great at this time of year cooler than summer but around 30 degrees and the vegetation is less so it is a great time to see the animals.

If you want to go to the beach Mozambique is the place it is also not too hot and is an hours flight.

We are honeymoon supplier and have some great reports on the forum.

Hi Bride14,

I've just come back from my honeymoon in SA and it's amazing. It's such a fab country and we loved every bit of it.

We left on the 20th April for 2 weeks, the weather was fine, as previously said it's not really sunbathing weather but it was lovely to stroll around during the day in 3/4 lengths and t shirt.

This is what we did and i wouldn't change a thing

4 nights in Cape town
2 nights in Stellenbosch
1 night Prince Albert (Drove over Swartzberg pass the next day)
3 nights Knysna
3 night Kariega Game Reserve

Everywhere was fab, the best part was the safari, we saw 4 out of the big 5.

If you need any other info don't hesitate to ask.
