Groom to look at you coming down the aisle or not?

Postby AGuest » Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:29 pm

I'm not sure what we should do about this one....

In some ways I'd love H2B to be looking at me as I walk down the aisle and in other ways I think it's nice to stick to the tradition of him looking straight ahead.

what are you all doing? (or what did you do?)

Well my walk up the aisle was a bit of a blur...probably because I practically ran  Hubby says he was turned around looking at me...even though he promised he wouldn't. It must be hard for any groom to keep looking ahead when everyone else is turned around...I think my nosyness (sp) would get the better of me

..ooh I'm glad you asked this one. I've been wondering aswell.
Half of me wants him to see the whole "aisle thing" but teh other half knwos if I see his face I'll melt.

I'm going to leave it up to him I think. I think he won't look. I think he'll be afraid he'll melt too....

I just can't wait.....

How are you doing Bride2be? you must be walking on air by now.

i ran up the aisle same as loulou but i do remember hubby looking at me as i walking up the aisle
and its something i'll always remember
personally i think its better than him staring ahead and not looking at you
its nicer to look at him when you're walking up rather than looking at the back of his head

yeah.......I said I was going to leave it up to him to decide too....if it was me up there I'd find it impossible not to look I think......but then I know I'll dissolve if I see him looking at me!! One of the girls at work just mentioned a wedding she was at and the groom looked straight ahead and she thought it was rude.....I said I thought it was sweet - but I think both are nice. I'll just be so happy anyway!!!

Yup.......I am pretty much walking on air now! Haven't been stressed at all but the last few days I've just been really tired and a little harassed about a few small things. I'm having a nice pampering weekend this weekend (H2B is on his stag!) - gym tonight then head to my parents house, then tomorrow it's pampering in brooklodge and my sister & cousin have arranged a "tea party" for sunday for all my aunts & female cousins. Really looking forward to it! :D

I'm really hoping that he'll look at me the whole way up, I really want to take my time and enjoy it. I'm not going to bring it up though, going to leave it completely up to him.

Sounds like a lovely weekend Bride2Be! hope you relax and get the energy levels back up.

Ive asked h2b what does he think he'll do - he says he dosent know but that he'll probably turn around and look. I know Ill got to pieces if I have to look at him the whole way up so Ive asked him to wait til Im nearly there i.e about 4-5 seats away! His best man can nudge him when its time to turn! I know this may sound a bit Bridezilla-ish but I think its for the best!!

This way I will get to take in all our friends faces as I walk up the aisle. If I see him looking Ill just end up staring at him and probably bawling my eyes out half way up! I really want to keep it together - dont want to ruin the makeup!!

I have warned my h2b that if he even attempts to look at me I will turn around and walk out   ONe of the reasons why I asked him not to is because if I see him I will prop start balling my eyes out and be an emotional wreck by the time I get to the altar! He says he would prefer to wait anyway until I get beside him.......

I have to disagree with the majority.
I think it's lovely when they don't look until you're about 3/4s way up and then his bm can nudge him to turn around.

I know as a guest I love it that way as you get to see the bride walking in and then look up to the groom to see his face when he sees her ..... aaahhhhh so romantic!!!!!

I would say deffo get the groom to look back. I was 1/2 way up smiling at everyone and feeling a little nervous when I glanced up and saw both H2B and bm gleeming down at me.

H2B said when I was standing at the door getting ready to do 'my walk' everyone was looking back and taking pics and he could hear everyone ooh and aah at me. His bm said to him 'You have got to turn around and see her'. Well, he did and he said the sunlight was just catching my hair and the gold lace in my dress and its the one image he will never forget. I nearly cried when he told me that (he told eveyone else in his speech on the day!) and I was so glad the bm told him to look around.
