I hope your decision is not based on the results of this poll Annemarie!

Well.... if you are so terrified that you don't want to go through with a pregnancy then I don't think the answers of people on here will help you! That's all I meant! In any case they are probably all going to say it hurts like hell!

I know the feeling annmariewatts. I have an unbelieveable fear of childbirth!! Judging by some of my friends stories of their experiences, its pretty tough going but you forget it all in the end cos its worth every minute of it. :?

AnnMarie I haven't had a baby, but I would imagine that however bad the pain is the end result will be worth it. I would never even factor that into the decision. If you are it might suggest that you're not ready to have a child yet, you're still quite young and you'll have your hands full with building your house and organising a wedding, I'm not saying that you won't manage, women have an amazing ability to get on with things and do some serious multi tasking, but are you sure this is the right time for you? There are alot of things you need to sort out if you plan to have a baby, will you continue to work, can your H2B cover all your expenses if you want to stay at home. Can you still afford the wedding you're planning or do you need to rethink things. Personally I want to have a bit of money put aside before we plan children, what if the baby has health problems and you can't return to work? Not trying to upset you, just playing devils avocate. Alot of us have unexpected babies, but if you plan it you should try and be as prepared as you can.

God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece

!
I hope you're not going to make your decision based on this.
I imagine it is pretty painful but I also believe that it's all worth it in the end.
Maybe you need to wait a few more years till you're ready. You might be a bit too young to go through it just yet.

Annemarie.... I haven't had a baby either so I can't tell you how much it hurts, except that I hear it's quite a lot!
But like a previous poster said.... that really shouldn't be what decides you against having a baby. After all have you ever met a mother who said that she regrets having her child because it hurt so much?
It will hurt and you will get over it! Now worry about all the much more important aspects of how having a baby will change your life!

I haven't had a baby yet - but I will do in approx 10 weeks time and although the thought of the actual childbirth terrifies me, I cannot wait until the baby is in mine & dh's arms - our creation - and at the end of the day maybe I'll say "nothing to it". I'm sure every woman is afraid of childbirth in one way or another. As the midwife said at the antenatal class last week "if we could have our second baby first it'd be great".

There's a thread on the pregnancy, labour & birth part of the magicmum website - it's a thread on happy labour stories, you should check it out!

But as the rest of the girls say, do not make a decision on having a baby based on whether women tell you it's painful or not, think of the life you will be creating and the happy life you'll have as a family - I know I'm really looking forward to that aspect of it - the labour is just a small part of it!!!

Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking...

Annemarie I have to ask - are you really a genuine poster or just a troll. I have a funny feeling you might not be who you say you are... sorry I have to ask but you seem to be giving me a few good reasons to be suspicious...
