We're getting favours but only some chocolates from Lir or something small. It should only cost €250/€300 and we're getting our names and wedding date on the box. I don't beleive in doing anything too fancy or costly as many get left behind in my experience. My dad suggested it as some people may like something sweet with their tea/coffee during the speeches.

TBH, if i spent a lot of money on candles or something and saw them left on tables at the end of the night, it would probably upset me. :oops:

I really like the idea of favours because I would be the type of person to keep all sorts of things any weddings I go to I have the invites etc however when I bring this up with both my family & h2b family they advice me that its a complete waste of money. :roll:

A few of the family have been to wedding over the summer and said that they were given choclates for favours and that they were all left behind so I really dont know might do the minitures fro the men and maybe athose mini candle things for the ladies or maybe get onto to some cosmetic range and se if I could miture perfumes or something. Don't know really but as it stands now I'm having them :oops:

I think they are an unmitigated waste of money that go completely unnoticed by the vast majority of wedding guests. I'm not a fan of all the pointless trappings such as Irish dancers, fireworks, favours etc. Spend the money on the food, the band and/or the DJ and go for the best you can afford - those are the things which people will remember, not whether or not they got scented candles or handmade chocolates!

I'm with Moniker on this one. Have seen such wastage at previous weddings and it is a shame when the money could have gone towards other aspects of the wedding.

I loved the ideas of favours but was at an afters of a wedding recently and a load of them were left behind which turned me off.
Instead, I was going to do the place names differently and then if people want to take them home it can double as a favour !

I agree any wedding I was ever at they were left behind. The last two weddings I was at they hadn't any and it wasn't even noticed.

I am somewhere in the middle on favours in that they are too expensive and get left behind but I like the idea of finishing touches, so I'm gonna get fortune cookies from the Asia supermarket as a) they are dirt cheap and b)they are something people will eat and enjoy at the time, not leave behind.
