Are you providing a meal for your videographer?

This is going to cause some debate. This one is for brides / grooms to be.

NO SUPPLIERS PLEASE!!!!

I imagine we will. Our photographer will probably have left by then but if both were still there, I'd make arrangements for bar food for them. It won't cost a fortune and I appreciate the argument that they're well paid for the day, but I usually think it's nice to be nice.

Plus a happy, sated videographer is presumably a better videographer!

yeah we told the photographer/ video man/ piper to get a meal in the bar when they got a chance/ were waiting around. Its a long day to not provide them with something. And yes you might say you're paying them for their work but it's only a few quid for a dinner at a bar and it's a nice gesture...

Absolutely. We had her allocated to one of the tables of 10, and moved her to a table on the day where 2 people hadn't turned up so there would have only been 6. The other alternative we had was to provide bar food, or food from the restaurant. On reflection i think it was written into the contract that a meal was to be provided, but there was no wa we wouldn't have provided something .

Im suppling him (videographter) a meal too.

Heres a silly question. Do you think guests would be insulted to be put sitting beside the videographer?

Glad to see that there are like minded people out there. It is a nice human gesture. Hopefully, the wedding DVD is something that we will treasure for years and years to come and so a meal is going to be my way of saying thanks for preserving our memories forever. One extra little meal is hardly going to break the bank!

Yea,
we are providing both the videoman and photographer with meals - have just included two extra places with our tables. Think as they will be with us most of the day, they deserve it.

My h2b was seated next to the videographer at a wedding last year and had a great chat with him -I dont think any rightminded person would be put out unless they had serious attitude problems

I would only worry about it if I felt that the guy was socially challenged! I've met my videographer in person and he is nice friendly guy and I don't think my guests will be insulted in any way. We'll probably sit him with H2B's work colleagues.

MMmm, I really dont know. I had planned to provide bar food for the photographer (not having video) but I said it to the hotel for them to do that, and the wedding person said I was mad to think of it...that I was paying them enough etc....
I did vote no here, but I think I will give him a bit of grub. What's 20EUR for a carvery meal when we are paying so much for the wedding!

Yes, we fed our video man. I think he ate in the bar. I had mentioned dinner to our photographer that morning but I dont think he was listening and so after the cutting of the cake photos, he left and I forgot to tell him to go and grab some food. I think it's nice to ask them if they'd like something to eat and leave it up to them if they do or not - I think they'd appreciate the gesture!!

I don't think I would've placed them beside the guests now to be honest. Noone there knew the video guy or piper and they didn't know us so it'd be a bit difficult knowing who to place them beside and if you have no seating plan then they could end up next to anyone... I was pretty conscious of having people at tables who'd have the craic and get on and if it was me in that position I don't know if I'd like to sit at a table full of people where perhaps they all knew everyone except me...

Our photographer left before dinner but we did offer him drinks and canapès when we were having them and he just had a coffee. We did invite him to stay and have dinner but he declined.

he got on soo well with our guests that they would probably been queing up to sit with him!!!

I remember I asking this a while back and some people suggested asking the videoperson what they wanted to do - either eat with guests or get something in the bar and pick up their tab
