Hiya,
It really depends on your priest in England. The priest completing our paperwork insisted on it but I know many people who lvie in different parishes who didn't have to go on one. I think we paid a £50 'donation' to help with the admin of the course etc. It was only a few hours.

Hi

On this topic I was wondering whether anyone could help ...

I live in England but I'm getting married in a catholic ceremony in Northern Ireland.

It's a little complicated becasue I have the parish priest in England involved plus the priest of the Church where we're getting married & also the priest who is marrying us (family priest).

The NI parish priest said we HAD to do an ACCORD course which would mean coming over to irelad to do it. Howeve, both my family & English parish priest said we can do a local one in England. That's what we've plumped for but I'm anxious this is correct? I know it is compulsory to have had the course?

Thanks
Shauna

Hi Shopop
Welcome to WOL.

As you are living in England you will be doing the paperwork with your parish priest here in England. He is the one who will sign off on your pre-marriage course so once he is happy with it it should be fine.

Best of luck.

As far as I was aware the pre marriage course is something the priest marrying you is more likely to insist upon. We did our course in England it was one full day and cost £50 per couple. The course was run by Marriage Care UK

+1 to what Just Because said (Hi JB :wv ). It will be your parish priest in England that sets the standard as to whether you have to do a course. I know when you have been together for so long it can seem like you don't need to do the course, but if your parish priest is of the view that a marriage course is essential then he won't care whether you've been together for 8 months or 8 years. He signs off your paper work, so you'll just have to go with the flow IYKWIM.
We did our marriage course in London and it wsa a one day course, about 7 hours in total and cost £70 for the two of us. It was worth it to have the priest on our side :innocent:

Thanks for the welcome and advice. I've writte to my NI priest and explained the situation & and asked if he's ok with this. I think it will be fine, it's ore important we've had the course than where it is.Thanks again :)
