Yay, we have our own thread!! Really wanted one, but wasn't brave enough to create one myself, so thanks 07Bride2012!! I've a few bits organised - church, priest, venue and making inroads on band and photographer, but have a pesky exam in two weeks which is getting in the way. Just want it over so I can concentrate on the important stuff - my wedding! I mean our wedding of course!

Not sure this is advice really summerbride, but last time I was BM, we picked the dresses from Bridal Heaven in Swords. Can't remember which brand they were - either Dessy or Jasmine.
She was thinking of ordering them online, but decided that we'd just measure ourselves and she'd order them in from the shop then. Not really sure what the point of that was - once we were going by our own measurements could just as easily have ordered them online.
Presumably you'll be getting them altered to fit perfectly anyway, so once they're not a ridiculous amount too small you'd be fine.
Another friend did the same my friend and picked the dresses in person, but then ordered them online and worked out fine.
I think once you see them in person you're definitely grand - or were you talking about picking them from a picture? That's a bit more risk imo - colours never look the same, and best to try on the style on all BMs if they're different shapes.
HTH!

Thanks pet, think you could be right on that score! I think i'd be too nervous ordering blind, so to speak!! Thanks for the advice x x What's this unity candle about?? I know you light it to represent unity etc, but does it have to be a specific type? Have seen people on here saying that they got someone to make one etc etc!! I might be a bit slow on all things weddings, but tis all new, and i'm sure i'll pick up all the lingo really soon

Everyone's so organised!!I definitely need to get a move on with photographer and band! Our wedding is on a wednesday though, so hopefully have options still available!(We were hoping for a Fri/Sat wedding, but loved the venue and they had no thurs - sat available during summer!) Having fun trying on dresses though, found a cpl i really like, duno if il ever get 'the one' feeling, can be a bit indecisive sometimes!
As for the BM dresses online, i agree it might be a bit risky if you don't get to see the dress before buying it and some online places can be funny with returns!!

Honestly you will get 'that' feeling about your dress, cos i felt exactly like you until i tried on my dress. TBH, i wasn't really into the whole scene, and found it all a lil bit cringy!! I did NOT dream of my wedding since i was 4...and i had no idea what style of dress i'd go for, but i knew instantly that i had found my dress as soon as i had it on:) Don't worry, i tried on loads shur, you'll know when you see it on pet x When's your wedding??

Hi Everyone!!! Finally a July 2012 thread - Like one of ye said, wasn't brave enough to start it myself!! Our day is July 14th - Bastille Day. (Neither of us are French tho!! ) I think I'm being organised so far - Have the Church/Priest, Hotel, Band, Photographer, and Florist booked. My dress has been ordered (and it's really handy cos I'm paying off a couple of bob every month on it!!). Friend of mine is going to do the invites - she's an artist and another friend of mine is singing in the church - she's a mezzo soprano.....Phew, think that's all so far!!! But I do also have the bms' dresses, cake and my shoes chosen, along with some other stuff. Do you think it's too soon to be booking these? Not sure if this sounds odd or not, but almost afraid to book too much in case it's too soon.. What ye think??? Nelle.

Wow Nelle, you're really organised, but you're prob like me, super organised person!? That's great about having friends to help out...lucky you!! Can i borrow them?!! Ha ha...Personally, i think you're right to get sorted, cos we'll have soooo much to do when July 2012 comes 'round! You'll be glad you did...Do whatever you feel is right, cos it's your day! Go with your instincts x
