Yay thanks for replying!! We're thinking of the classic menu - I wonder are we mad?!? Will have to see. Id love someones feedback on the Country Fayre or classic package to help us decide. Tastings would help too!

I have a priest a church and a venue and thats it!! God id want to start doing things asap!! What band did you pick?

Yes, going to the party on the 6th. I wonder what the special show is?! No idea about tasting, our wedding is over a year away so no doubt its a way off. Yours might be sooner! They do say its seasonal menus though dont they so maybe yours will be in august / september? What caterers do they use now do you know?

Any joy bargaining with them re package?! PM me!!

So exciting chatting to someone else getting married there! :babydust: :o0 O-O

G'day ladies, I am living in Oz trying to organise our wedding. I am loving the look of Ballymagarvey but only want a wedding for 50-60 people. As I haven't been in Ireland for 8 years...what are the proces you have been quoted (if you don't mind sharing). Is there a venue hire charge on top of the per person charge? Totally lost and don't know how to go about starting this mammoth task!!!
Thanks O-O

I was at the party last night, really enjoyed it! We are getting married there on June 27th 2013 - its sooo far away i wish it was sooner!
Was lovely to see the place all decked out and full of people - impressed with the staff as well, even though the bar was heaving they were coping really well. There must have been about 300 people there, dont have any worries now about our little wedding of 100!
We stayed in the marriott, would have no hesitation recommending to the wedding guests, really nice hotel and great value for money...
We met some other couples there, did you all hear about the tasting distaster two weeks ago?

Hey Trudy, we were there last night too, I thought it was a really nice night but having been to the previous summer BBQ I didn't think the food and little samples were as good as they had been with the last caterers which worried me a little. We are getting married there in 4 months and had our tasting with the original caterers about a week before it changed, theirs was amazing. Would you mind letting me know what the tasting disaster was (pm if you're more comfortable!) as I have been wondering whether to ask for another one...thanks a mill! :)

Hey ladies,

Didn't make it to the party last night.....had to work this weekend :-(

I had my menu tasting in BMV last month and I was really happy with the food. Now admittedly I didn't taste the previous caterers so nothing to compare it too but the other couples at the tasting seemed happy too. What happened at the tasting 2 wks ago?

It was never going to be intimate when they started advertising the night on Ray Darcy Today FM. I was a bit suprised about that. The lovely thing about BMV is that its a little hidden gem. Very few people have heard of it and have no expectations so when they do see it they are pleasantly suprised. I hope they don't go down the line of making it too commerical......

Have to say wasn't that impressed with BBQ or lack of food sampling either. Heard few ppl in bbq saying they were only there for the free food! Was bit miffed email we got about it made it sound like was only past and future b2b/h2b so thought would be quite intmate but wasn't really :o( OH was woking today so couldn't stay too late, does anyone know if you could stay over heard one person saying it but hadn't heard beforehand!

Yeah I wasn't impressed with the lack of samples as well, at the BBQ last June there were staff walking around with canapés and food samples from the menu, it was absolutely fab. I had brought the parents to have a look and they were really impressed. Also the prosecco we had been given was lovely; another time I went there they had a really lovely afternoon tea spread and cheese platters. I mean its so bloody expensive ( we are the classic package as country fayre didn't exist when we booked) but at least I felt people would be wowed by the food. I found the prosecco to be very sharp on Sun and I am hoping they are not going to serve that at ours, and yeah I just didn't think the food was great, there was nothing if you weren't a meat eater. Didn't think I would have to worry about something like that at this point. Was anyone else there and what did they think?
