Hey all!

Welcome to those who've just joined the wedding train - we have a good few wedding twins already! O-O

I can't believe my ticker has '10 months' in it!! :eek When I created that ticker it had like twenty something on it! TIme is flying!

For those of you who have gotten veils or are planning to - are you buying them from the bridal shops? They just seem so expensive there for what they are, when you can get them cheaper elsewhere but then you don't have the reassurance of seeing it with the dress OR do ye go to see the dress with a veil you bought elsewhere?

Hi April 2013 brides- I just wanted to wish you all the very best from an April 2012 bride :wv . I was very excited to see your thread :o)ll . The time will fly- enjoy it all! April is a great month to get married- despite the terrible weather last month I think almost all of the April 2012 brides ended up with good days for their weddings or at least dry ones!

MrsDuffy2be- we also made our own cake and is very do-able. You already sound like you have it well planned out but there is a great thread here with lots of tips (you may already have it bookmarked): http://www.weddingsonline.ie/discussion/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=278151

Best of luck to you all O:o)

Hey i am scared to put up my ticker asi think i will freak out, have been stressing a bit over money and seeing it like that means there's only 10 more paydays till the big day :eek

Where did you see your BM'S dress? I have mine but i'm having slight issues with one of my BM having put on a fair bit of weight so now it looks like i may have to buy another one.

Ha ha sounds like we were all at our venues for our pre-anniversaries!! We went to see the gardens at our time of year and we ended up picking our package and got a few extras! Must've been the luck the day!

Mrs duffy that was a great bargain you got!! Feckin hell! Was it an ebay shop or a once off? Worth a punt at that rate! Is it a chapel or cathedral length...sounds like it if the bridal shops was 280euro!

clairet I got my BM dress in TkMaxx - I only needed one and happened to see an evening dress there in the perfect colour!

OrTees thanks for the lovely post! And congratulations to you and your new husband! I've loved following your April thread to see what this years April brides were up to and seeing how popular your thread was inspired me to start this one!

Hi ladies!! Time is really flying by me here!! Can't believe we're well into May already!
I have a real dilemma with my dress. I know which one I want. I've fallen head over heels in love with it but I really can't afford it! :weep
I've found a lady (Xiran @ http://www.weddingsonline.ie/suppliers- ... ess-party/) who is willing to make the dress for 1/3 of the price. Seems almost too good to be true. I'm a little skeptical. I've also found it for sale on ebay and I have some wollies offering to sell me theirs after their weddings later this year. I can't decide what to do. If I wait and buy second hand and there is something wrong with it (or the bride decides not to sell) I may have left it too late to have it made/order from shop... If I get it made and she makes a mess of it I'll be back to square one!!! O:| Need to make a decision soon so any opinions would be helpful!! Thank you!

I think I'd go with the second hand dress hun. She may be able to say she can make it but it won't be the exact same and if it's your dream dress, I'd be afraid you'd end up disappointed. When will the wollies be able to sell you their dress? I would make sure it was five months before your day that way you'd have time to come up with an alternative plan. Have you phoned around all suppliers in the UK and Ireland to see if they have that dress as an ex display? You might get lucky! xx

The earliest anyone can sell is November- just leaving 5months. Ive checked Uk, Usa etc. No luck! I went to visit the dress maker and saw her work-she can copy dresses exactly from photos. Ugh. Maybe i'll start doing the lotto!! Thanks so much for the advice though! :-)

jmaurac 5 months may well be enough time to find a dress should it not work out - most shops said 6 months which I'm sure includes some safety net so 5 might be ok - ring some shops pretending you've 5 months to go and see how they react?

If you have a few wollies offering to sell I'm sure one will come through?

In saying all that,if you can see the work of the dressmaker, can visit her, have fittings, watch the progress etc then that doesn't sound as risky as say, ordering online and hoping for the best. I would seriously consider that option if I was in that position but if you are worried at all,go with the 2nd hand dress option. Good luck deciding and I'm sure it will work out! O-O
