Luxury Hotel - Ireland

Hey,
Looking for some recommendations for a luxury hotel in Ireland. We're thinking of postponing the full honeymoon until a couple of months after the wedding. But we'd still like to go somewhere for a few days to unwind after the wedding.
What's the best hotel in Ireland you've ever been to? I'm talking 5 star all the way luxury!!

Hi,we're not taking our honeymoon till next year,we're going to book into the Westport Plaza hotel for a few nights,looks fab.The nicest hotel i've been to in a while was Carton House,it was a gift to us,i'd love to go back for a few nights but,its very pricey!!

Thanks for that Lorraine!
We only live about 20 mins away from Cartonn. We've stayed in it before and absolutely loved it (was a gift as well) So we'd be looking for something a bit further away.
In law's to be don't live too far from Westport, so would be looking something further away from them too!!! Not that we don't get on great. Just don't want the possibility of them being able to call down to us!!!
TBH that could happen anywhere though - we have family all over the place!

Wineport lodge in glasson is gorgeous. We got engaged there. Its where 'the restaurant' is filmed so as you can imagine the food is amazing. We booked into one of their luxury suites and it was stunning eating breakfast on our balcony literally hanging over the lake. There is a small spa and a rooftop hottub. Its not a big hotel but it's got class and character. I've in alot of 5 stars but there is something very special about this place. My sister adores the Park in Kenmare, I've never stayed there myself but she reckons it's the best 5 star in Ireland. Best of luck with it and I hth x

agree with sarahstrikes on the wineport, location is beautiful, has a really peaceful atmosphere so great for switching off, and the food was really gorgeous.

a few other suggestions:

the ice house, ballina, co. mayo
the g hotel, galway
ashford castle, cong, co. mayo
adare manor, adare, co. limerick

fota island in cork is beautiful - didnt like g hotel. Heritage in killenard is lovely, and as you know carton house is fab O:o)

Cliffhouse in Ardmore, Monart in wexford, Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny or Doonbeg.

Seafield is lovely and heading there this weekend but definitely not in the same calibre as the above for luxury.
