Bit disappointed with franc DIY brides

Bit disappointed with franc DIY brides

Postby powderpink » Mon May 07, 2022 12:23 pm

I was so excited about the programme, thought that he would be showing me how to do things and how to DIY things myself but there was nothing like that at all on it! Every time there was an idea that sounded interesting, he moved away from it. Half hour was too short for the programme.
I got nothing from it. The couple were lovely though and so organised, but I just felt like it was a bit of a documentary following them rather than helping them or even helping the viewers to DIY! I think the couple had it all sorted themselves!! I really loved the décor and theme!!

I quite liked it, I thought there were some very good tips from it, they're not going to have time for step by step instructions for every single idea. I thought the candles wrapped in wallpaper, the individual menus, and escort table cards were all great ideas, and he showed a good bit of info about making decorations for the cake and stuff.

I was so excited about the programme. I did pick up little ideas alright - the birdcages on stands for the aisle, h2b wants to make a candy cart now.... like that will ever happen! (If I could get him to finish the 100 jobs around the house he has started!!)

We did see how to decorate the candles and the cake so I don't think you can say it was totally a documentary on the couple... In fact, the bride is a Wollie. If you want to find out how to make anything I'm sure you could ask her.... She's a very friendly and helpful girl. i don't think he could go through every single DIY thing. I'll be glued to the next 5 episodes!

Maybe there should be some sort of factsheet - on the individual things. I'd love to see how the birdcage stands were made and secured...

I enjoyed it. I have serious envy of the amount of lanterns and birdcages she had. I've just started collecting them for our wedding but there is no way I'll gather that many before August :o0

Loved the sweet cart too :)

I know!! When I seen all the stuff she had collected - I turned to h2b in shock. I'm getting married in September and I have 4 jars & 10 pairs of flip flops collected, thats it!

Yeah but at the same time great and all as it is to have so much stuff for a wedding...what do you do with it all after? The more you have the more you have to get rid of. The only thing I'm really going to splash out on is candle holders, because I adore them anyway and will use anything that holds tealights in my own house afterwards, or will give them to friends, relatives etc as gifts after. It would absolutely kill me to buy so much stuff and then have to look at it all sitting doing nothing afterwards.

I did wonder about where the two birdcage cakes either side of the wedding cake came from?

Recorded it watching it now!

Think I thought would be a bit more make and do!! Bring back Mary Fitz with one prepared earlier! half an hour isn't enough at all!!Defo agree that a factsheet or more info at the end or link to website with a breakdown of how they did things online if not in prog itself!

Fair play to them wedding looked amazing with all the vintage bits and pieces so personal has me thinking now . . . .

Oh definitely - would be very helpful...

Their wedding looked fantastic! The personal touches was commented on by everyone - everyone appreciated it. I'm beginning to think that just going with the hotels table decorations would be a shame........ damn it!!

I agree that I was a bit disappointed by it because lack of explaining how things were done but there were some very good ideas on it.

Missed it last night, just watched it there now on the RTE Player - the amount of stuff the Bride had collected!!!!! Her shed looked like a shop!!!

I'm not mad into the whole Birdcage and Teacups trend, but I thought they did a fantastic job and it looked amazing on the day.

I have NOTHING for my centrepieces yet, I haven't a clue what I'm going to do.

I got a brilliant idea from last nights show - hurricane vase or large vase with water, those coloured glass beads and a candle, then maybe throw a couple of the beads around the base of the vase

The vintage theme wouldn't be my cup of tea to be honest, but I thought her wedding looked fab. Definitely agree that the brides shed looked like a shop! I had to laugh when she was showing Franc her lanterns
"And theres a few more over there"
And he pulled a FULL box over - FULL of lanterns!! :o0
Fair play to her, she was very organised and had a lot of vision and ideas herself.
