Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
HI Everyone
Not getting married for a good few months yet but starting to think about the accommodation in BMV. We are hoping for approx 100 guests but a lot of H2B's family live fairly near so I'm worried that we may have problems getting all the rooms booked out - then again, who knows, everyone might want to stay! I don't want to sound like a complete bridezilla but would prefer for family and close friends to have first option at staying, rather than them having to stay somewhere else and, for instance, work colleagues staying instead. What I'm wondering is did you guys just leave it to chance and get your guests to contact the venue if they wanted to stay or did you get them to contact you and then you alot the room if you wanted them to stay in BMV? I'm trying to come up with the best solution to ensure we're not left with empty rooms. Not sure if I'm explaining myself properly and sorry for the long winded question. Thanks! ![]()
Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
we're the same. Getting married there next year, had a chat about them about it. They said to put their details on invites etc so people can contact them said they would give us list of people booked in so if work people etc are on it we can swap people aroound am wary of giving people too many options we'll end up footing the bill.
My friend is in similar boat in her venue she has earmarked people for rooms although they can let you down. Think better of letting people contact BMV themselves and giving cc details so you don't get hit with no show bill.you can "edit" list to who you want to stay! url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
My bro is getting married there and they allocated all the rooms to immediate family and the wedding party. they asked everyone involved and a couple declined so they just put others in there. On their invites they just mentioned that the onsite accom was already allocated to the family and extended bridal party and provided the details of the other accomodation around
Not sure id leave it to chance to be honest considering that you have to take them all, so if your family are up to it, id allocate them all!
Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
I'm getting married IN BMV in 6 months. We sent an e-mail to our closet friends and family inviting them to stay in BMV. Everyone excepted except 1 couple so we just asked another couple who happily accepted. We had no probs filling the place.
For everyone else we have sent them accommodation details for the Marriott, Decoy and Balrath cottages and are leaving it up to them to decide where they want to stay. Its been really straight forward so dont worry ;-)

Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
Some good ideas think we'll allocate initially didn't want to get involved in other peoples bookings might be best option! Also can't expect people to share houses/bathrooms with strangers kinda annoying cottages aren't all ensuite

Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
The good thing is that the cottages are made up of different denominations. Some have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms so I found it fairly easy to allocate depending on whether it was a group that knew each other or a couple on their own etc.....

Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
Has anyone had any trouble actually filling the rooms? Its something I am apprehensive about as the rooms are v expensive and with the Marriott & B&B's so close etc. Have any of you had any complaints bout the cost of rooms? We have had a good few moaning from immediate family (who were the very ones in our own heads we were counting as definites when trying to figure out how easy it would be to fill!)

Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
We're getting married in Ballymagarvey in July. We sent out invitations to family in early April giving them first dibs on the rooms. We then knew who wanted to stay and who didn't. We could then offer the rest to our friends on a first come first serve. It has worked well most of the family stayed and then we offered it to close friends and we're full. Just an idea it worked well for us.
Re: Ballymagarvey Village - advise re accommodation please?
Thanks rstrutt! Was thinking of taking a similar approach myself. If we are having trouble filling rooms with immediate family, close friends etc then i think if we send out the invites without details of nearby accomm etc for the moment and to send these details out a later date when we have filled ballymagarvey. Was also considering a mini bus to shuttle guests to marriott or local b&bs but again only after weve filled the rooms!
