Dessert tables?

Dessert tables?

Postby Bridester » Wed May 09, 2022 9:45 am

Hey Girls,

Has anyone has a Dessert table or seen one at a wedding? How do they work, when are they put/brought out? At the reception pre dinner or at afters time?

Thanks girls - just throwing around ideas here.

Really, hope you don't mind a couple of questions...

Was it lots of work?
Did you go catered or DIY?
Did you have any issues with the hotel?
Did you have many at the wedding and did many go for it?
Did you have many different types of desserts?
What ones would you recommend if you did it again?
Did you have little disposable plates with it?
Did you have it instead of cocktail sasusages and sandwiches in the evening?

Thanks so much for replying - I am really into the idea of having one, but need to get planning now for August. :thnk

Hey, Not at all
- No work involved for us at all cos Venue done it. We went for a buffet meal which was catered by them where everyone went up table by table and got served their choice of dinner after which they could go up for seconds if they wanted to.
- The Desserts were put out on the same table after the dinner was cleared away and people helped themselves to one. They were put out on plates, no paper plates.
- There were no issues, cant see why there would be cos it actually makes life easier for them to just lay it all out on a table, a certain amount of each type and every man for himself then :)
- We had 170 at the wedding and honestly couldnt tell you how many went up for it but i do know some had three :eek .
- Three different types, chocolate mousse, a fresh fruit meringue and a toblerone cheesecake, cant really say which was most popular cos they put out equal amounts of each and they all went as far as i know :)
- No, had the night food too cos there would have been dessert on the meal anyway, it was just served differently than how it usually would be.

I honestly think it would be easier for the venue to serve it like this, depending on what way you're doing the rest of your meal.
best of luck with all your planning,

Thanks so much for your reply - it has got me thinking. Currently we have a 3 course meal with a dessert and I don't think we will change that so I was just thinking of adding this for the Novelty factor. Will bring it up with the hotel and see what they suggest. Thanks again for your detailed explainations - much appreciated.
