How much are you paying for hair?

How much are you paying for hair?

Postby wexford gal » Wed May 09, 2022 1:21 pm

I ask because i've been quoted €750 for myself, my mother and my one bridesmaid for my wedding in October. The hairdresser is brilliant and she does have to travel two hours to the venue but it still seems very very steep to me. Why is it that weddings add an extra zero to every invoice?!

€750 sounds ridiculous for 3 people... I know 2 hours is a long journey, especially with the price of fuel being so high but thats ridicilious

I paid 275 last year for hair. The price was for up to four people, including bride, but I only had me, mum and sister on the day. The hairdresser included travel (one side of Dublin to the other!) in her price.

Feckin hell, that's an unreal amount, but at the same time without knowing her costs the petrol (and possible tolls) to do a 4 hour round trip, paying her for the hours of that trip too (because she'll miss other work/possible customers in those hours so that needs to be taken into account), and the hours to work on ye I can see why it would be expensive compared to a lot of other prices I've seen for hair, but most of those would be using local hairdressers who don't have the travel expenses.

Wow, that does seem crazy. I paid 220 euro last year for three bridesmaids upstyles, my own upstyle and mams wash & blow dry. There was only a 1hr round trip travel involved but the girl did bring someone to help her on the day too.

€750.00 is insane and you really couldn't justify it by blaming petrol costs. OP i would be looking elsewhere for a hairdresser for the day if I were you. There are lots of great hairdressers out there that won't charge stupid money.

That is a crazy price imo. I couldn't justify it.
Have you looked around and got a few prices?
Surely you can get someone of the same standard that would be way cheaper?
I'm paying E200 for Me, 3 Bm's and my Mum. Then it's E20 for each trial.
She is coming to my house but not travelling too far. She is great with hair and the only person I totally trust so delighted she can do it.

Holy Moly! That is in Insane..that hairdresser is having a laugh with you i think..unless she is given you extensions made out of pure gold or something...or is she driving a flipping diesel sucking big rig to get to you??
Like i know a trip from Limerick to Athlone say is nearly two hours and thats €20 fuel so a round trip is €40 so say if she has a little bit extra to travel €50/ €60 at the very most for fuel (check AA route planner for fuel costs). Hair for 3 people should be a max of €150 imo..so the very most she should be charging €200/ €210..ask for a breakdown or clarity, maybe you misheard heard her..but that is a kerazy price!

And her wage per hour for the 4+ hours of driving that she could be taking other clients. It still doesn't add to €750 but depending on her vehicle and other things that could be a substantial cost. I was quoted €50 for a makeup artist to travel 30 minutes.

Hi Wexfordgal my hairdresser is costing me 250 for trial +3 of us on the day. She lives close by otherwise there would be a travel charge of 50 I think. Is your wedding in Wexford? pm me if you want her details.

A few hairdressers I got quotes from gave similar as the wedding was on a Saturday and to make it worth not working a regular Saturday in a salon or doing what she normally does, she'd have to charge that. Apparently.

€55 each BM, €80 for me and €70 trial for me. I thought that was expensive! We are going into the salon as well.
