Payment in full before wedding

Hey girls,
I am just wondering what suppliers have been asking for payment wise. All of our suppliers have asked for a deposit which is fine and we have paid. BUT our photographer sent us our contract today which stated that payment in full needs to be made a month before our wedding. I only got to read the email this evening but I replied saying I am more than happy to pay the deposit but we are not paying any supplier upfront before our wedding. We can give the remainder of the payment on the day by cheque or whatever method he would prefer but there is no way I am paying upfront a month before the service (phrased it nicer in his email!) Has anyone else had suppliers ask for payment in full before the wedding? I am just half afraid that after finally getting a photographer that he will pull out if we don't pay him in full before the wedding. O:|

Get another photographer, I would never pay anyone in full before the goods are produced.

I agree, we're not paying anyone in full before the day.

That's what I thought and have agreed with everyone else to just pay the balance on the day. Hopefully it will be ok, it was wrote on the contract but I suppose things in the contract can be changed

I hope you didn't sign the contract agreeing to that? I think that's outrageous, paying for something that you haven't received yet! If you have signed it, make contact with the photographer straight away and see what you can do.

With both our photographer and videographer we paid a deposit and are paying half the remainder before the day and the other half on receipt of the albums/dvd. Wouldnt even pay it all on the day. Wait until you get your products O:o)

I would pay in full until you get the product! I certainly wouldn't pay in full before the wedding day.

I think a deposit, plus a percentage on the wedding day plus the rest when you get the photos is fair.

I got an email back today saying that was no problem. I hadn't signed the contract, I only got it yesterday so he is getting it ammended for me. Looks like I was stressing over nothing! O-O
