Girls, why do you feel strongly about pics on FB? I don't mean it in a bad way but I was just trying yo figure out why you'd care... if you're on FB then it's not that you disapprove of it in general and no doubt have other pics up from nights out etc. So genuinely what's the big deal? I have scoured things like wedding blogs in recent months and love looking at photos of weddings and how they were styled etc. Why is this different?

Unless you ban phones and cameras at the wedding i think its unavoidable.I can understand people who want their wedding day a private affair. For my wedding i want people to take as many pics as possible,it'll be great to look back at them in years to come, whether its in an album or on facebook!

hiya, maybe the words"this is a facebook free day"somewhere would help,,We had this dilemma for our sons communion so beforehand I asked(quite firmly)that no pictures would end up on facebook of him and that anyone could take all the photos they wanted but not to put them up and it was respected i have to say,and I was delighted.made it feel a bit more of family affair rather than a public one.xxx all the best.

I also won't want my photos on FB. I'm going to put it very politely on the invitations. To those of you who've already sent them, I wouldn't put them on the mass booklet, it's for the mass, and could look a bit vulgar. I'd send the word out beforehand, either by word of mouth or via email, and make sure the 'usual suspects' are reminded! I was at a wedding and her photo was on FB before the ceremony was even over so it might be too late to leave it til the reception. If it's written somewhere permanent on the big day, it might serve as a talking point for people looking for an excuse to beeatch!

"A facebook free day" sounds good!I would word it very carefully on the mass booklets,Im having poems and welcome/thank you notes and other bits on the booklet so would tie it in with all them!Nothing will be vulgar about my wedding day!My wedding theme is classy so I hope I can carry it off! Thanks for all the replies and very good suggestions.

Composed for ya Bales!

Thank you for sharing our special day,
But could you make it better in one little way?
Eat,drink and dance with us long into the night,
But please no pictures on social network sites.

or
I cannot believe that our big day has come
And so please can we ask a favour -just one?
We would prefer if our wedding was a Facebook free do
And would really love if you could make our wish come true!

As a Facebook addict, even I was shocked when I came out of the church yesterday from a wedding and the minute I sat in the car I checked Facebook to see pictures of the bride tagged already so after yesterday, I'm thinking announcement at the meal or cards on the table would be too late..

If its not done with the invites, maybe a Facebook message on both bride and grooms pages requesting no pictures?

i agree.. im an avid fb user, using for both work and personal use. I dont think i'm special or anything, i just hate pictures of me being put up of me that look awful! :) i read a thing once on fb, if you want to see what a person really looks like, dont look at their photos, look at the tagged photos of them! theres a reason for that! :)

its prob pretty unavoidable, i will be spreading the word and hoping for the best and again i have a setting which means that i have to ok any tagged pictures of me first. realistically, whether there are photos online of you or not, people will be showing others and they will be criticised to within an inch of your life, but lets face it, unless people are really crap, they arent going to say it to your face!! :)

re. putting a notice in the mass booklets being tacky...... surely the fact people are uploading photos during the ceremony in the first place is tackier?! quite shocking actually!

I totally agree Flor! Though I just wouldn't want a big blue FB symbol on my mass booklets! I'm gonna be a diva and write it ever so politely and stiffly on the invites!

candlequeen wrote:This is something that bugs me too, but the more I think of it, the more I don't really care as long as I can't see what people are saying. I've a setting where nobody can tag me without my approval, and I'll be checking all tags. Our guests are all mid-30s to mid-60s, and none would be major facebook users - I'm only worried about one person, the youngest of H2B's sisters, she uploads pictures of her bloody breakfast so she will have 1,000 photos up before we even get to the reception if I don't have a word with her beforehand and tell her not to upload anything.

Failing that, I know her account password. It'd be a shame if she couldn't get into it to upload anything for a day or two around the wedding.... :innocent:

Love the last line :-) i would totally change her password lol

i have this setting aswell on my page, which i have to approve all tags. Someone put a pic of my sister on facebook when they were at the alter and tagged her, i would hate that. But then again, ive nosed on facebook as much as the next person, so i cant get pissed off if someone puts a pic of me on my wedding day!!

+1, there were some great pictures from our wedding that were taken by friends and put on facebook.
I'd also agree it's unavoidable and personally i think it could be a bit diva-ish to tell people not to put pics up.
If pictures were taken on a camera and developed they could be handed round to anyone and you wouldn't have any say about it.
Imo you'll be having such an amazing day that you want give a toss who posts what, i know i didn't.
