Venue Help!!

Hi,

I am living in sydney and trying to find a venue in ireland. if anyone had any suggestions i would be so grateful!!

I am not too picky about where it is but i guess my main things are:

somewhere big enough for 140
an option for guests to stay in the hotel if they want
my family are real foodies so good food is a biggie
a bright and airy reception room - big windows?
nice hotel facilities for the guests to lounge around the day before and after
a nice setting
near a nice town would be fantastic

75 p/h is our budget all in drinks reception, canapes, dinner, toast wine and afters nibbles!! is this reasonable?

at the moment we are looking at carlton kinsale, sneem hotel, brehon killarney and dromhall. the guests are from dublin so killarney might be a bit far!

Try posting your question in forums called old faithful you should get a better reply in there.

I loved my venue Tulfarris ticks most of your boxes if you wanted to check it out

was going to recommend carlton kinsale.........and then saw it on your list!! wedding room there is fab, with one whole side of the room glass overlooking a bay. have packages that would suit your budget as well!

I got married in Druid's Glen, which i annot praise enough!

Other venues I did really like:

Coolbawn Quay - tipperary, but was too far from Dublin for me

Powerscourt, Wicklow - no onsite accom though

Thomas prior Hall, in Dublin

Step House Hotel - Carlow

There are lots of lovely hotels in Kilkenny too, which is not from Dublin in terms of travel, haven't been to weddings at any though!

+1 to Tulfarris. It ticks the boxes for you and we were amazed by how incredibly well they looked after us. We had 118 but it could easily hold 140.

Thank you so much for the replies!

So hard to book from so far away but it is finally done :) we booked glasson hotel in athlone, the peolpe are so nice, and venue looks great
so i am delighted, have had lots of good reviews of the place from family who view it on our behalf.

next step... eh everything else!!

im about to make a new post about wedding dresses now. the wedding is booked for Aug 5th and not moving home till mid april, will the bridal shos take me?
is there a minimum amount of time?

Hey Jodie, congrats...friends of mine got married in Glasson and I heard it was fab (I couldn't make the wedding unfortunately). On the dress...I think they prefer 6 - 9 months but my friend got engaged in July and her wedding is in December so she persuaded them to sell her the sample, even though it was only new in...could be a possibility, if they want your business, they'll work around it. Could you try looking in Sydney and then see if they have that dress here in Ireland? Or buy it in Sydney and bring it home to be alterered?
