Thanks for the advice girls! :D

I know you're right, but it's so hard trying to keep everyone happy. I think I will take the suggested option of keeping things to myself from here on in. Just wish I could share my excitment with everyone without the grief. And Sparklybride, I would be going mad if I was you - not on at all. Pester the hell out of them 'till you get what you want. Good luck!!

MMMmmmMMM! Can I come to your wedding slk, those are pretty much all my favs!

Were those choices made available to you at C O'Neills or did you make a request? I was thinking of parma ham and melon for starter becuase its my own favourite, but was wondering if it would go down well in general. Still not decided!

Of course, the more the merrier!

I made a special request for the Parma Ham which we are being charged extra for but the rest is one of their standard menus plus I think we swapped a dessert. They are very flexible, I spoke to them and asked for what we wanted and it was all fairly easy.
Im looking forward to our tasting!!

Starter is either warm chicken salad or melon (for the mammies)
followed Veg Soup
Main Course Steak, served with spuds and veggies or in my case Chips!!
Dessert is warm Apple Pie served with vanilla custard.

Totally need to start starving myself - only 3 weeks to go!!!

MK1908 you are my wedding menu twin.....love the chicken and mushroom vol au vents but we also added wedding cake to the dessert selection on the plate for the "older" crowd who wanted some fruit cake. We have asked the hotel to place a small plate of cake on every table after dessert and then will serve the other flavours for the "afters"....

This is our menu.... 4 days to go... really looking forward to the food.

Mushroom & Madeira Soup with Tarragon Chantilly

Roast Spatchcock of Quail with Clonakilty Black Pudding, Glazed Apples & Cider Jus

Champagne & Ruby Grapefruit Sorbet

Pepper Crusted Fillet of Beef with Gratin Potato & Balsamic Jus

Dark Chocolate Mousse with Baileys Cream, Mocca Crème Anglaise,
Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Tuille

Tea or Coffee with Petits Fours

Backup salad (for vegetarians or others) is a Melon Salad.
Our vegetarian alternative is Risotto of Grilled Vegetables with Basil.
Our fish alternative is Prime White Fish (depends on availability on the day) with Garlic Studded Spinach with a Chive and Smoked Salmon Nage

Our menu will just say 'Fish & Vegetarian Alternatives also available', rather than listing them out. That would have cost about an extra €8 per head, which we were not prepared to pay. Once it's clearly listed, then that's fine... people can ask.

Also serving canapes with our drinks reception (combination of Mulled Wine, Sparkling Wine (aka champagne) and Kir Royale), plus tea/coffee/minerals.

Not having a wedding cake, but will have evening finger food later.

Sounds gorgeous. I am still undecided with. Our hotel seems to have an obsession with chicken as it is in most of the starters and we are thinking of having it as one of the main choices so I am trying to avoid it for starter. That is a delicious menu. You must be getting totally excited.

menu

Postby Grainne20 » Tue Jan 18, 2022 1:08 pm

I too am really glad this topic was posted. My mother is one of those "no one can cook like me ppl" so it was a big decision with lots of tasting involved until we found the "perfect menu". To be honest who cares about the food. All ppl will worry about is having a good time and necking the pints. Well thats both our families anyway
We are having

-Baked brie w/salad
-choice of starwberry shorbet or leek and potato soup (summer time ppl wont want soup)
-lamb or poached salmon (mashed and roast spuds - mange tout and carrot and parsnip mash)
-3 minis (strawberry pav, banoffi and choc cup with honeycomb ice cream)
I am hungry thinking about it here as I eat my breakfast careal!!!
