Nice Wine for 5e a bottle-possible???

Hi girls, we're on a tight budget and I'm looking for a nice white and red wine for around 5e a bottle. Any ideas please?? :thnk

Tesco generally have good offers for about €5. At the moment you can get two bottles of Lindemans red wine for €10, and it's quite nice!

Aldi have a nice Rioja for 6.50 per bottle. Outside your budget but close-ish. Lidl always do wine specials so keep an eye on them.

Make sure to keep an ear out if any of your friends or family are going to France. It might even be worth the overnight ferry trip especially to visit the caves at the ferry port. We got crates of lovely wine from 3-6 euro a bottle last time!

Up north in tesco's you can get some great offers. Also we got oyster bay sauv blanc for 7euro a bottle in siansbury's this week- I know it's over your budget but keep an eye out you'll get a good deal. Lidl's pinot grigio is supposed to be lovely too

lidl have a lovely shiraz called cimarosa for around 4/4.50, it's gorgeous
i think they have a pinot grigio for around 6 and possibly a sauvignon blanc for around 5, they're definitely worth a look

I drink a lovley white wine from Lidl its south africian chen blanc for about 4.50 a bottle. Its yummy!

Tesco definitely are worth a look - plus you get a further 5% off when you buy any 6 bottles.

For red I'd recommend the Nero D'Avola or the less full bodied Valpolicella, and for whites I'd recommend the Verdicchio dei Castelli de Jesú or a pinot grigio called "Ogio".

Lidl are doing an italian red (chianti) 6 bottles for €20, I bought one bottle to try it and its nice and mild but fruity. They have a similar offer on white wine but I haven't tried it

Might be a good rule of thumb to get one bottle (wherever you do get your wine from) and try it (for the love of the cause :hic

) and try and buy from the same batch?

My fav red is a Pinot Noir from Aldi, it's 5.50 and it's gorgeous :lvs

(and it happens to be screw cap so no worries about them being corked...)

Would highly recommend Badger's Creek from Aldi. It's an Australian Savignon for less than a fiver! Is up there with some of the pricer new world wines!

Tesco's generally have good deals - and when you buy 6 bottles you get a 5% (I think) discount. Also Super Valu do a lovely Pinot Grigio white for €6
