Is this price any good for a cake?

Large cake for 40-50 people - plain ivory icing with some sugar flowers 250 euro???

Or a small top tier cake with a selection of cakes and buns for 40-50 people - 295 euro?

includes hire of stand and delivery etc.

I'm trying to work out if it's worth going for this or attempting to bring an M&S cake abroad! :eek

To be honest I think thats kinda saucey enough? I am annoyed that I'm paying e365 for a 2 tier cake so I suppose I'm not much help to you.

I was all for bringing an M&S cake with us but someone put us off the idea but I think if I was a bit more balls-y I would've just gone with the M&S cake

Yeah it's flying in now! It's strange because I thought I'd be more stressed than this :o0

but think it's because most big things are sorted now, so it's just tying up loose ends

Yeah the cakes - I'm only looking a plain 1 tier (like the one from M&S) - not really big on the whole cake thing :-8

So the price of a 1 tier cake was ranging from 250-350, I just think oh god, would it even look like it was worth that!

My mum was up for carrying the cake on the flight but she is travelling by easyjet and they don't allow it. Aerlingus seem fine with it, but I don't know if it's just too much hassle, then there is the question of how and when to get it to the venue - we aren't staying in our venue. Hmm I might try and see if there is some compromise that can be made on the cake to bring the price down, although I don't see how I can get more basic than the 1 tier plain cake :-8

This is expensive a top cake should cost around €55.00 to €85.00 depending on the size
Cup cake are around €1.50 €2.50 per cup cake ,
A cake to feed 40-50 should cost about €140.00

Oh dear that is a bit of a difference!

Was told that confectionery items and ingredients are more expensive in Spain but surely not by that much! AGHHH dilema!

I think that sound like an expensive quote for a cake for onlt 40/50 people, think you should maybe shop around a bit!

I know, it's just more difficult with not being in the country. Also there's the recommendation of the wedding planner, who has used her suppliers for years and knows that they are reliable :o(

hmm it may be an M&S cake for me unless I can get the price down

I'm getting a three tier cake custom designed to what we want for €285. Our baker is AMAZING and the cakes look fab and taste so good. I wasn't going to bother with a cake because the quotes I got before that were so ridiculous. Was delighted with that price though. Hope you sort something out!

Just a thought - do you have to get an M&S cake and bring it over? Could you not get a regular baker to make it for you and bring it over? I'm sure they'd have tips on how to transport it etc. It's worth asking. I can PM you the details of my woman if you want. I've used her before for other things and she really is fab. Got the recommendation from another Wollie.

Hi this sounds expensive to me. I am getting a 4 tier cake. 12", 10",8" and 6" for 330 euro incl delivery.

This is a special rate for me with a local lady who lives nearby me.

Try another girl I know. look up Fi's Fondant creations on facebook. lovely cakes too

Just a thought how about getting a fake cake made and bringing it or posting it. It would be much lighter as made of styrofoam then you could have a regular cake made by the hotel or a local baker to serve.
